TRANSITIONAL HOUSING PROGRAM Transitional Housing Assistance Grant Program July December 2016 The Transitional Housing Program supports programs that provide transitional housing, short-term housing assistance, and related support services to victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and/or stalking, and their children and other dependents, for whom emergency shelter services or other crisis intervention services are unavailable or insufficient. 1,2 225 grantees reported this period. HOUSING Transitional Housing Program grantees provide housing units, which include program-owned units, program-rented units, and units paid for with voucher or rental assistance. 166 grantees reported using funds to support housing units (74% of all grantees reporting). VICTIM SERVICES Grantees provided an array of support services to 2,725 victims, 3,775 of their children, and 85 other dependents who were fleeing domestic/sexual violence, in order to locate, secure, and maintain permanent housing and economic stability. 189 grantees used funds for victim services (84% of all grantees reporting). Services to victims: Case management was provided to 2,378 victims (87% of all victims receiving services); Housing advocacy was provided to 1,535 (56%) victims; Material assistance was provided to 1,528 (56%) victims; Counseling/support groups were provided to 1,256 (46%) victims; Crisis intervention was provided to 1,255 (46%) victims; Financial counseling was provided to 1,225 (45%) victims; Other victim advocacy was provided to 1,170 (43%) victims; Employment counseling was provided to 908 (33%) victims; Transportation was provided to 908 (33%) victims; Civil legal advocacy/court accompaniment was provided to 440 (16%) victims; Education was provided to 313 (11%) victims; Translation and interpretation was provided to 253 (9%) victims; Job training was provided to 212 (8%) victims; Criminal justice advocacy/court accompaniment was provided to 180 (7%) victims; Civil legal assistance was provided to 156 (6%) victims; and Leadership development opportunities were provided to 121 (4%) victims. Services to children: Case management was provided to 1,660 children (44% of all children receiving services); Material assistance was provided to 1,500 (40%) children; Children s activities were provided to 914 (24%) children; Other victim advocacy was provided to 889 (24%) children; Transportation was provided to 669 (18%) children; Crisis intervention was provided to 658 (17%) children; Child care was provided to 570 (15%) children; Counseling/support groups were provided to 528 (14%) children; Education was provided to 312 (8%) children; Translation and interpretation was provided to 73 (2%) children; and Leadership development opportunities were provided to 8 (<1%) children. Transitional housing nights of shelter: 1,485 children received a total of 177,852 bed nights. Transitional housing nights of shelter: 38 other dependents received a total of 4,571 bed nights.
