10. Motion to add an entrance examination for Vice-President of Promotional Affairs Proposed by Mayur Tailor, seconded by Varis By-Law No.2 2.3 Entrance exam has been made by Mayur Tailor Discussion of various points: Proposal of extra testing after entrance test (higher level of difficulty once elected), discussion of negative side: could discourage others wanting to run for position, could be seen by biased, questioning its necessity (being that the past promos didn t do one and were very successful), photoshop isn t the only method of promotion Positive points: If other positions have entrance exams it wouldn t hurt for VP promo to implement one also, promo has been used for all promotional materials Vote: needs 2/3 to pass Motion fails 11. Motion to change the eligibility of the President in the case that no candidates meet the requirement 3.3.2.5.1 Proposed by Mayur Tailor, seconded by Varis By-Law No.3 point changed:3.3.2.5.2 Discussion of Various points: (Motion for discussion to not pass 30min by Michael, motion passes.) If requirement 3.3.2.5.1 is not met within candidates; a by election would have to be done. The Volunteer Coordinator and Shinerama coordinator are summer positions and more 101 week oriented (didn t have to deal with classes, and other components that only happen during the academic year sept-april), the amount la charge de travail of a departmental representative isn t as much as an executive member. General council members do not have as much knowledge as an executive member. Point 3.3.2.5.1 is a last resort thing. Point b to be placed above a Mike proposes if a is not fulfilled the candidate has to have been a summer executive then a department representative (consecutively), seconded by Varis Rewording of amended motion: Vote: all in favor, 1 opposed, Motion to amend amended motion passes Seconded by Varis; all in favor: 25 all opppsed: 1 abstentions:4 Motion becomes: 17.Next meeting January 18.Varia Try to look for more TAs for TA Auction Promo Let s get festive Jackets came in (placement of science in the back too small and too high, atom lining) any concerns let Grace know
