AWARDS In 2009, Canadian Immigrant launched the only national awards program that recognizes the achievements of immigrants to Canada, with the support of founding and title sponsor RBC Royal Bank. Some of the past winners include former Governor Generals of Canada Adrienne Clarkson and Michaëlle Jean, national broadcaster Ian Hanomansing, star chef Vikram Vij, entrepreneur/film producer Ajay Virmani and ballerina/artistic director Chan Hon Goh, to name just a few. In 2018, we are celebrating the 10th annual RBC Top 25 Canadian Immigrant Awards. With this year s group of winners, 250 inspirational immigrants will have been recognized by the awards over the last decade! This is a historic milestone that recognizes the amazing contributions immigrants make to Canada. 600+ AVERAGE NUMBER OF NOMINATIONS 40,000+ NUMBER OF ONLINE VOTES IN 2017 HOW DO THE AWARDS WORK? This national award asks readers to nominate and then vote online directly for individuals who have made a difference since their arrival in Canada, whether in business, academia, the arts or community service. After the nomination phase (January-February), an esteemed judging panel of past winners shortlists nominations to 75, whose profiles are then posted online for the voting phase (March-May). The final winners are determined by a combination of number of votes and the judges merit scores, and announced in June at two ceremonies in Toronto and Vancouver. A special print edition of Canadian Immigrant will be issued to commemorate the winners. OTHER HIGHLIGHTS OF THE AWARDS 2018 will be the fourth year that RBC selects one of the winners for the RBC Entrepreneur Award. A SPECIAL OPPORTUNITY Be a part of this historic year and beyond as an Associate Sponsor of the awards. To discuss this opportunity, contact Madelaine Gileadi Email: mgileadi@metroland.com Phone: 416-516-0205 It will also be the second year one of the RBC Top 25 will be selected for the Youth Award, which recognizes the achievements of young immigrants (between 16 and 29). Brand new this year is the Settlement Agency Award to recognize the amazing work settlement agencies are doing to help newcomers. Concurrent with the RBC Top 25 campaign, one winner will be selected after the nomination, shortlist and voting stage.
