Egyptian Passports I. General Information: 1- Egyptian Passports are issued: a- for a period of seven (7) years for individuals in possession of a valid Egyptian National I.D. Card. b- for a period of one (1) year for individuals in possession of an Egyptian Birth Certificate with the National I.D. Number printed on the certificate. c- Upon expiration of an Egyptian passport, an application must be submitted to issue a new passport. Passports cannot be extended beyond their seven year or one year validity. d- Passports are issued to individual citizens even if minors. Children cannot be added to the parents passport. II. Issuance of Egyptian Passports: 1- Draft a short note addressed to the Consul-General of Egypt in Houston requesting Passport Application Form # 29 to apply for a new passport. 2- Attach the following with your note: a- money order in the amount of $110 payable to Consulate General of Egypt in Houston. Personal checks are not accepted. b- a stamped self addressed envelope with the applicants name and address for the return of the Passport Application Form # 29. 3- Upon receipt of Passport Application Form # 29. applicant must complete the first page only of Passport Application Form # 29 as per the information on the National I.D. Card or the Certificate of Birth, and return the Passport Application Form # 29 to the Consulate General of Egypt in Houston with the following: a- a prepaid self addressed envelope from FEDEX, UPS or US Postal Service ExpressMail for return of the passport to the applicant. Prepaid first class mail envelopes or ones that do not have a tracking number will not be accepted and the application will not be processed. b- 4 passport photographs (the same requirements as for U.S. passports).
c- a clear Xerox copy of the front and back of the National I.D. Card or the Certificate of Birth. d- Original Certificate of Birth for individuals below sixteen (16) years of age. e- a clear Xerox copy of the old passport, pages 2 through 9 only. f- a clear Xerox copy of the Certificate of Military Service for individuals who have completed their military service, the Certificate of Postponement of Military Service for individuals who enjoy such postponement, or the Certificate of Exemption from Military Service for individuals who enjoy such exemption. g- for individuals who are studying in the U.S., a letter from the Egyptian Cultural & Educational Bureau in Washington D.C. stating that such individuals are under the supervision of the Bureau. 1303 New Hampshire Ave., NW Washington DC 20036 Tel: 202.296.3888 Fax: 202.296.3891 Email: eecous@eecous.net www.eecous.net h- a clear Xerox copy of the relevant Certificate (Marriage, Divorce, Death of Spouse) for female applicants wishing to record a change in their social status. i- Passports are issued approximately 12 weeks from receipt of completed application and paperwork. III. Loss or Theft of Egyptian Passport: 1- You must file a police report at the local police station/precinct where the passport was lost or stolen. 2- Draft a short note addressed to the Consul-General of Egypt in Houston to notify the Consulate General of: a- the loss or theft of the passport b- all personal information of yourself (full name, date of birth, place of birth, ). c- all possible information of the lost or stolen passport. Attaching a Xerox copy of the lost or stolen passport will significantly expedite procedures. d- attach a copy of the police report.
3- The Consulate General will contact the Passports, Immigration and Citizenship Bureau in Egypt on your behalf to request approval for issuance of a new passport. 4- Upon receipt of approval for issuance of new passport, you will be notified and must then follow the steps outlined in section II above. 5- The fee for a replacement passport is $125.
Temporary Travel Documents for return to Egypt I. General Information: 1- Temporary Travel Documents for return to Egypt are issued to Egyptian citizens who have lost their passports or whose passports have expired and are not in possession of a valid Egyptian National I.D. Card or an Egyptian Birth Certificate with the National I.D. Number printed on the certificate but need to return to Egypt expediently. 2- The Consulate General will contact the Passports, Immigration and Citizenship Bureau in Egypt on your behalf to request approval for issuance of a Temporary Travel Documents for return to Egypt. 3- Temporary Travel Documents for return to Egypt are valid for thirty (30) days from the date issued. 4- Temporary Travel Documents for return to Egypt are valid for travel to Egypt only. II. Issuance of Temporary Travel Documents for return to Egypt: 1- Draft a short note addressed to the Consul-General of Egypt in Houston outlining the reasons why you need a Temporary Travel Document for return to Egypt and include all the following information in both Arabic and English: a- full name b- Date of Birth. c- Place of Birth. d- Profession. e- Address in Egypt. f- Name, address and telephone number of closest living relative in Egypt. 2- Attach to your note any proof of Egyptian Citizenship (copy of passport, copy of National I.D. Card, copy of Firearms license). 3- In case of all above documentation being sent by mail, you must include a prepaid self addressed envelope from FEDEX, UPS or US Postal Service ExpressMail for return of the Temporary Travel Documents for return to Egypt. Prepaid first class mail envelopes or ones that do not have a tracking number will not be accepted and the application will not be processed.
Travel Documents for Palestinian Citizens I. Issuance of Travel Documents for Palestinian Citizens: 1- Draft a short note addressed to the Consul-General of Egypt in Houston requesting a Travel Document for Palestinian Citizens and include all the following information in both Arabic and English: a- full name b- Date of Birth. c- Place of Birth. d- Profession. e- address, telephone number and email in US. 2- Attach the following to the note: a- a copy of the applicant s expired Travel Document for Palestinian Citizens. b- affidavit signed by the applicant stating that he/she does not hold any Travel Document issued by another state. c- affidavit signed by the applicant stating that he/she does not hold a visitor permit or a return permit to Gaza. 3- Upon receipt of approval for issuance of new Travel Document for Palestinian Citizens from the Passports, Immigration and Citizenship Bureau in Egypt, applicant will be asked to submit the following to the Consulate General of Egypt I Houston: a- Original expired Travel Document for Palestinian Citizens. b- 2 passport photographs (the same requirements as for U.S. passports) c- Money order in the amount of $45 payable to Consulate General of Egypt in Houston. Personal checks are not accepted. d- Pre-paid self addressed envelope from FEDEX, UPS or USPS Express Mail for return of the Travel Document to the applicant. Prepaid first class mail envelopes or ones that do not have a tracking number will not be accepted and the application will not be processed.
