Rio Vista Independent School District Board of Trustees The Rio Vista Independent School District Board of Trustees met in a regular session on Monday, March 24, 2014 at 6:30 pm in the Middle School Cafeteria /Administration Building, 100 East Capps Street, Rio Vista Texas. The notice of this meeting was posted in accordance with the Texas Open Meeting Act, Texas Government Code Chapter 551. Board Members Present: David Brunson, Byron Cobb, Richard Perrett, Jacky Mears, Chris Pinyan Board Members Absent: Butch Hackler, Keith Hall Meeting Attendance: Tim Wright, Tony Martin, Kathleen Kamphaus, Billie Thornton, Debbie Payne (see sign in sheet) Public Participation None The meeting was called to order in the Rio Vista Middle School cafeteria. Instructional Focus, Student Recognition Tim Wright, Superintendent and David Brunson, Board President presented certificates of recognition to the Art Students, FCCLA Students, and FFA Students (see the attached list) Board President, David Brunson, called for a five minutes recess and to open session in the Rio Vista Independent School District Administration Building, Board room. Mr. Brunson ask for the public to join the group when the meeting reconvenes. Action Jacky Mears made a motion to approve the minutes of the following Board meetings; February 10, 2014 February 24, 2014 March 11, 2014 Chris Pinyan seconded and the motion carried unanimously. Action Byron Cobb made a motion to approve the Rio Vista Independent School District 2013-2014 District Improvement Plan. Richard Perrett seconded and the motion carried unanimously. Chris Pinyan made a motion to adopt the Rio Vista Independent School District 2014-2015 school calendar. Byron Cobb seconded and the motion carried unanimously. Richard Perrett made a motion to approve the Unopposed Candidates for other Political Subdivisions. Byron Cobb seconded and the motion carried unanimously. Chris Pinyan made a motion to cancel the May 10, 2014 General Election, Board of Trustees Election. Byron Cobb seconded and the motion carried unanimously. Jacky Mears made a motion to adopt the Instructional Material Allotment and TEKS Certification 2014-2015. Chris Pinyan seconded and the motion carried unanimously. Jacky Mears made a motion that the district enter into a joint representative agreement with the other active members of the Johnson County Shared Service Arrangement for the purpose of cooperating the prosecution of Godley s suite against Venus Independent School District. Chris Pinyan seconded and the motion carried unanimously. Richard Perrett made a motion to authorize the firm of Eidhelbaum, Wardell, Hansen, Powell, and Mehl to file suit on behalf of the school district to recover and protect the district s in monies owed by the Venus Independent School District to the Johnson County Shared Service Arrangement. Chris Pinyan seconded and the motion carried unanimously. Pursuant to article 6251 Vernon s Texas Government Code Chapter 551.074, 551.071 the Board of Trustees convened into executive session at 7:26 pm. The Board reconvened open session at 7:48 pm. Chris Pinyan made a motion to approve the following personnel recommendation as recommended by Tim Wright, Superintendent; Employment: Jeffery Stockton Richard Perrett seconded and the motion carried unanimously. Jacky Mears made a motion to approve the following personnel recommendation as recommended by Tim Wright, Superintendent; Employment: Rafael Andrade Byron Cobb seconded and the motion carried unanimously.

Jacky Mears made a motion to approve the Superintendent s recommendation that the Board approve the Resolution to enter into the Agreed Abatement Order with Texas Education Agency and to authorize the Superintendent, Tim Wright and Board President, David Brunson to sign the Agreed Abatement Order. Byron Cobb seconded and the motion carried unanimously. Richard Perrett made a motion to adjourn. Chris Pinyan seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
