Faculty of Law IV Biannual Congress ANTITRUST ENFORCEMENT IN ITALY AND THE EUROPEAN UNION 18-19 April, 2013 Room 1, Faculty of Law, via Rosmini, 27 - Trento www.osservatorioantitrust.eu www.unitn.it/evento/convegno-antitrust Under the Patronage of:
The fourth edition of the Trento Biannual Congress on antitrust enforcement will focus on three highly topical issues. The first day of the Congress will be devoted to the topic of Antitrust culture in Italy and the EU. The panel will be made up of the most important representatives of the institutions in charge of antitrust enforcement in Italy and the EU and also market stakeholders (companies and consumers). They will analyse, in a constructive and participatory dialogue, the status quo arties of the antitrust culture and consider possible ways to improve it. The second day will be divided into two sessions. The morning session will be devoted to the analysis of recent developments in the field of public and private antitrust enforcement at national and European level. The afternoon session will focus on a highly topical issue that is set to become increasingly important in Europe in the near future: the class action. The sessions of the second day are characterised by the intention to analyse the concrete problems involving professional legal operators and the stakeholders that are active on the markets (institutions, companies and consumers). Both sessions will feature speeches by renowned experts in the topics analysed: University professors, magistrates, officers of the authorities in charge of antitrust enforcement, lawyers and economists. The third day will involve active participation: it is an informal event aimed at the academic staff of the Antitrust Observatory, but it is also open to anyone who wishes to participate for the first time (special registration is required - see below). The session will focus on the activities carried out by the Antitrust Observatory, its role in the international antitrust community, future prospects, new ideas and proposals on how to implement such ideas. Once more the Biannual Congress in Trento will combine academic rigour with a pragmatic and comparative approach, for a constant and constructive dialogue with institutions, companies and civil society.
