The Board of Trustees of the Evadale Independent School District met in Regular Session on Monday, April 20, 2009, in the District's Administration Building Conference Room, located on Hwy 105 South, Evadale, Jasper County, Texas with the following members present:,,,,, and. Members Absent:. Staff Present: Rodney Cavness, Robert Wilson, WT Humble and Curtis Soileau. Visitors Present: Melissa Swedoski, Julie & Alan Stringer, Dale Totten, Dale Burford, Jimmy Jones and Mr. LaBiche of LaBiche Architect. The meeting was called to order by, at 7:00 PM. The invocation was given by. A motion was made by and seconded by to approve the minutes of the Regular Meeting of March 16,2009, as read. Motion carried unanimously, 7-0. The Special Guests that spoke were Dr. Cavness for Quentin Price regarding his comments on how much he will miss working with Evadale ISD and how much he enjoyed his time as our lawyer. Scott Loar gave the board a final update on information regarding the catfish festival. Dale Totten statedhis displeasure with his son being removed from the track and baseball teams because he was with his Dad at the Doctor. Also wanted to know what time a student had to be at school in order to play extracurricular activities that evening. Dale Burford also stated his concerns about his son being removed from the track team for missing track meet. Thinks coaches have too much control over kids. A motion was made by and seconded by to sign the collection contract with County Collector Bobby Biscamp, of the JCTA. Motion carried unanimously, 7-0. A motion was made by and seconded by to agree to the [mal payment of Specialty Restoration after inspecting the gym. Received check from Specialty Restoration in the amount of$179,398.00. Final payment was made in the amount of$447,825.02. Motion carried unanimously, 7-0. A motion was made by and seconded by to proceed with the scope of work with LaBiche Architect regarding the Agricultural Building, Bus Building as well as the Roadway Improvements and Drainage. Motion carried unanimously, 7-0.

(b): Discussion of Contract with LaBiche Architect. The Board of Trustees ended its closed or executive session at 8:20 PM on April 20, 2009. A motion was made by and seconded by to proceed with the contract between Evadale ISD and LaBiche Architect contingent on changes to the project parameters of the contract to reflect the following projects: Agricultural Building, Bus Building, as well as the Roadway improvements and drainage issues and additionally, approval of the contract is contingent upon LaBiche Architect providing an addendum to the contract to reflect billing guidelines. After conferring with the Attorney during closed session the board reconvened in regular session to proceed with the remaining agenda items. A motion was made by and seconded by to approve and sign the contract for Special Education Legal Services Retainer with Evadale ISD. Motion carried unanimously, 7-0.. A motion was made by and seconded by to approve the 2009-2010 School Calendar. Motion carried, 7-0. Motion was made by and seconded by to approve the purchase of a district vehicle for the Superintendent's use, Yz ton crew cab. Superintendent will use his car allowance for travel to and from office to home and use school credit card for business travel. The vehicle is not to exceed $25,000.00. Motion carried, 4-3-0. Motion was made by and seconded by to approve to do away with the Teacher Sign in Policy. Certified employees will not punch clock or sign in. Motion carried, 5~2-0. A motion was made by and seconded by to approve the extension for A-I Glass to finish the art room through June. Motion carried, 5-2-0.
Motion was made by and seconded by to approve Board Amendments 7,8,9, 10 and 11. Motion carried unanimously, 7-0. A motion was made by and seconded by to approve the Low Attendance Waiver. Motion carried unanimously, 7-0. Motion was made by and seconded by to approve moving the May meeting to the 11th rather than the 18 th due to the Athletic Banquet. Motion carried unanimously, 7-0.
