The minutes stated that Representative Luis Soto was present for that meeting when he was absent. Seconded by: A.J. Assef.

4.0 Public Comments Dov Hassan with the Chabot Theater Department was present to introduce himself to the senate and to explain why he needs funding for several productions that he intends to put together for the fall and spring semester. He explained the necessity for funding for the designer fees and explained how he submitted additional details for the designer s fees as requested by the senate at the previous senate meeting. Dov Hassan is requesting $9,700 to cover the fees for the 3 productions he is planning to put together for the 2015/2016 school year. 5.0 Oral Reports SSCC President: The President informed the senate that Bianca, Qunicy and herself will be working on the new bylaws and would like to invite the senate to work on any new bylaws they would like to see implemented. She also reminded the senators to stay on topic during the meetings for time management purposes. SSCC Vice President: The Vice President sent his appreciation to the senators for their support before, during and after the Gladiator Bash. He encouraged everyone to keep up the good work. SSCC Finance Director The Finance Director gave special recognition to Quincy and Noel for all their hard work preparing for the Gladiator Summer Bash. He informed the senate that the disbursements for the previous senate will be given out shortly. The Finance Director had also been reviewing the appeals for the Co- Curricular funding for the Theater Plays and Women s History Month, and the Senate would discuss that later on in the meeting. SSCC Communications Director The Communications Director reported on the Gladiator Summer Bash that took place on July 7th. The head count received was a total of 168 people. He made several suggestions on ways we can improve on preparing for events in the future such as dividing tasks sooner prior to events, take credit only when you participated in a task, better decorations, more diverse music, maintaining an attendance log during the event, participating in brainstorming ideas, more raffle ticket/prizes, more support with heavy lifting, all senators in matching uniforms and to communicate with students more about ways to improve. SSCC Events Coordinator The Events Coordinator is currently working on the next Gladiator bash that will be taken place in August and the Literacy Drive event that will be

taking place in September. She would like to give special recognition to Noel for his part in preparing for the Gladiator Bash that just took place. Faculty Advisor The Faculty Advisor reminded the senate of the importance of placing the key to the offices back in the file cabinet drawer. She informed the senate that the new Advocacy Office in room 2302 was left open with the light on when no one was present in the office. For security measures the senate is reminded to keep the door closed and locked if no one is there. The Faculty Advisor disbursed parking permits to the senators for the 2015/2016 academic school year. She asked all senators to complete the email form to receive their Chabot College email. The Faculty Advisor will be signing off on disbursements to the senators who used personal funds to support the Gladiator Event that afternoon, to try to expedite reimbursement. 6.0 New Business 6.1 Appointment of Representative-at-Large H. Shin Charisma Morgan is appointed as the Representative-at-Large. No action needed since Representative-at-Large is appointed by the President. 6.2 Approval of the Judicial Review Commitee H. Shin & A.J. Assef Motion to approve the members for 2015/2016 SSCC JRC Committee. Discussion took place explaining what the JRC committee does. The following members were recommended: Co-Chairs: President Hye Yoon Shin & Vice President A.J. Assef Members: Representative-at-Large Charisma Morgan Legislative Director Bianca Nunuez Representative Sheila Mayorga Seconded by: Corey Lowe 6.3 Approval of the Elections Committee A.J. Assef Motion to approve members for 2015/2016 SSCC Elections Committee. A discussion took place clarifying what the election committee does. Theresa Pedrosa was initially recommended by the Vice President to serve on the election committee but will not be able to do so due to the fact that she is serving on 4 other committees. The Faculty Advisor reminded the senators that they should serve on a minimum of 1-2 committees, she advises not to overcommit and make sure everyone participates at events.

Assef Members: Legislative Director -Bianca Nunez Finance Director-Corey Lowe Representative-at-Large -Charisma Morgan Representative-Juan Carlos Silva Representative-Sheila Mayorga Seconded by: Noel Ramirez 6.4 Motion to put a 15 minute time limit on item 6.4 Moved by: Corey Lowe Seconded by: Theresa Pedrosa Appeals of Co-Curricular Funding A) Dov Hassan- Theater Arts Play The applicant was previously denied funding the last time the SSCC met because the designer fee was not clear. However the necessary documents have been sent to the Financial Director now. Corey Lowe The initial amount requested from the applicant was $9,700. The applicant wanted to put together 3 production plays for Fall and Spring 2015/2016. The senate decided to support the fall production only at this time. The applicant can reapply for additional funding for Spring production(s). Motion to Approve Funding at $5,300 Moved by : Theresa Pedrosa Seconded by: A.J. Assef Abstaining: Corey Lowe B) Jane Wolford- Women s History Month The applicant was previously denied funding the last time the SSCC met due to lack of proof of speaker fees which was since cleared with the Finance Director. Further discussion took place regarding food budget expenses for the event. Motion to extend the debate on Agenda item 6.4 by 10 minutes. Moved by: Corey Lowe Seconded by: Theresa Pedrosa

Moved by: Parfait Mwamba Seconded by: Theresa Pedrosa Motion to approve funding at $7,995 to cover event and partial budget for food expenses. Moved by: Noel Ramirez Seconded by: Parfait Mwamba 6.5 To fill current Senate vacancies, a motion was made to allow President Hye Yoon Shin to appoint the SSCC Secretary for 2015-2016 and for the Elections Committee to hold an interview/application process and make a recommendation to the Senate regarding the appointment of an ICC chair and up to 5 Representatives. The recommendation will be presented to the full senate for approval. If the Elections Committee is not able to make the candidate recommendations, then the President will be given latitude to fill those vacant positions. The motion was amended to set a deadline for the Elections Committee to have a recommendation for the ICC chair and 5 Representatives by September 14, 2015, in order to have the recommendations sent to President Shin and then approved by the full senate at its regular meeting on September 21, 2015. 7.0 Good of the Order The senate started a jar to collect donations toward the AIDS/Lifecycle ride as a way to say thank you to Linda from the SSCC. The next Gladiator Bash will be taking place in August; senators will be given more details in the weeks to come. Ms. Tenn will be gone for the first weeks of August on vacation. A Special Meeting was called by President Hye Yoon Shin for Friday, August 7th, at 10:00am in the Scribe Room of the Student Senate Office to discuss Gladiator Days, budget issues, and approve membership of the events committee, and SSCC secretary. Senators were informed to submit agenda proposals for these topics to the President and Secretary by July 29, 2015. 8.0 Meeting Adjourned at 12:05pm
