INTERNATIONAL OFFICE Short procedure - MVV Visa for Study Dear prospective student, If you are not a citizen or official resident of a country belonging to the EU/EER i or you are not from a country ii that does not require a provisional residence permit (MVV) to enter the Netherlands and you wish to study for a period longer than 90 days in the Netherlands you must apply for an MVV visa as part of your enrolment. After you arrive with an MVV in your passport it is then necessary for you to further apply for a temporary residence permit (VVR) 1. The procedure: The Hogeschool Utrecht (HU) shall send your MVV application to the Dutch Immigration once you have fulfilled all the requirements. The HU shall receive notification from the Dutch Immigration (IND) after they have qualified your request and shall pass this information on to you promptly by email. You should then arrange an appointment with your Dutch Embassy to collect the MVV visa shortly before your intended travel date. Once you have entered the Netherlands with your MVV you are obliged within a few days after arrival to apply for your temporary residence permit (VVR). You must complete and sign the VVR application form (sent to the HU at the time of the MVV decision). To finalize your application you shall need to provide a copy of your MVV visa and a current passport photo. The IND should approve your temporary residence within two to three months.
