The new service is patterned after the e-filing system used successfully in Federal Bankruptcy Court since March 2002. Civil e-filing is a new feature of our JeffNet subscription service. JeffNet provides Internet access to a variety of Clerk of Court records, including 24 th civil. You may already be one of our 500 subscribers. If you are not, you can register on the clerk of court s web site. You register to e-file using your Louisiana bar roll number and a password that you control. You may file a new case or make a filing on an existing case by charging your credit card. Filings are processed immediately with confirmation to your e-mail address. If a case is new, it is assigned a docket number and allotted to a division. The images of the.pdf documents you submit with your filing are stamped with the date and time, docket, division, and your bar roll number before being written to the 24 th civil database. At month-end, you will receive a summary by e-mail of all your credit card charges in docket number and date order. Order Discovery Pleadings with Exception (Memorandum, Interrogatories, Exhibits, etc.) Exhibit List Exhibits Ex-Parte Motions Extracts $2.00 per page (paper); $5.00 per non-paper item or object $75.00 per service $5.00 per document plus copy cost Your JeffNet and e-filing passwords provide multiple levels of security for your transactions. Your credit card information is secure since you provide it directly to VeriSign, our fiscal intermediary. No one in the Clerk s Office has access to it. E-filing includes several other features designed to minimize your telephone inquiries and trips to the courthouse: You can display all of the cases for which you are an attorney of record in docket or litigant name order. You can display all the deposits and charges for a litigant or a docket view similar to that offered by the Federal Bankruptcy Court. The docket view combines the activity for all litigants chronologically and filters out transactions that are purely financial. Incoming Fax $5.00 flat fee Outgoing Fax (Local) $1.00 per pg. Outgoing Fax (Long Distance) $5.00 1st pg.; $1.00 ea additional pg. FIFA $200.00 Garnishment $200.00 for ea. service; FIFA & Garnishment $400.00 You can designate any of your cases for auto payment, charging your credit card if your advance deposit is exhausted. This eliminates the need for you to pay the Clerk s Office the deficient amount before the transaction can be processed. A $5.00 charge is assessed for each e-filing, the same as the cost of a fax filing, with these significant advantages: filing, charging, and confirmation are immediate; and there is no need to follow up with paper documents since the e- filed document is considered to be the original. If you register for e-filing, your JeffNet advance deposit amount will increase by 6 15
