- Page 2, Council Meeting Minutes, November 1, 2011 - AGENDA ITEM #2(a) - MAYOR'S REPORTS, ANNOUNCEMENTS AND REMARKS Mayor Luciani reported on the following community activities and events: A Remembrance Day banquet will be held on November 5, 2011 at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 17. The Royal Canadian Legion s Annual Remembrance Day parade will be held on November 6, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. On October 20, 2011, Mayor Luciani and Councillor Paone attended a tour of Thorold Secondary School as part of the Accommodation Review Process. Mayor Luciani informed that Council will be proactive in fighting for the continued presence of a high school in the City of Thorold. Protection Hose Company No. 1 hosted the Firefighters Association of Ontario quarterly general meeting in the City of Thorold on the weekend of October 22 and 23, 2011. Mayor Luciani, Malcolm Allen, MP and Cindy Forester, MPP addressed this special group of volunteers. On October 26, 2011 Mayor Luciani dropped the puck at a special hockey game between Thorold Blackhawks Bantam BB team and Tilburg Trappers from Tilburg, Holland. Mayor Luciani thanked the Thorold BIA for their efforts in coordinating a successful Thorold Halloween Parade. AGENDA ITEM #2(b) PRESENTATIONS AGENDA ITEM #2(c) DELEGATIONS 1. Bob Elliott, Chair, Thorold Runway of Recognition Committee was in attendance to announce the 2012 Runway of Recognition inductees: Eddy Barber Byron Peachy Burkholder 1986 Midget Baseball Championship Team 1992 Thorold Figure Skating Adult Precision Team Roses 1977 Junior Ontario Baseball Association Champions Mr. Elliot also reported that the Daryl Mahler Memorial Award will be presented to an individual who has shown excellence in coaching.

Arch THAT the minutes of the General Committee Meeting (GC11/17) held on October 18, 2011, be received and adopted. AGENDA ITEM #5 - OTHER BUSINESS 1. Councillor Whalen informed the 1 st Annual Halloween Parade hosted by Thorold BIA was a success and well attended. 2. Councillor Whalen informed that Allanburg Community Centre was transformed into a haunted house for Halloween and was well attended. 3. Councillor Whalen requested a report be presented at the November 15, 2011 General Committee meeting regarding parking restrictions in the Thorold BIA area. 4. Councillor Ferry reminded the public about the Electronic Recycling Event to be held on November 5, 2011. 5. Mayor Luciani requested a staff report be prepared regarding cameras in the downtown area, specifically in the area of Pharma Viva. Councillor Whalen informed grants are available through the BIA for cameras. Councillor Whalen informed that the BIA will be meeting with Community Policing on November 8, 2011 and this issue could be addressed. Mayor Luciani withdrew his request.
