2. Roof Replacement: New Alvin E. Morris Administrative Center Appendix 3 Contact(s): Ken Hinkle Funding Source: Capital Outlay CIP #1617-2078 Purpose: The 2016-17 Capital Outlay Fund includes monies for roof replacements at various district sites. On April 13, 2017, bids were received according to plans and specifications prepared for the roof replacement at the new Alvin E. Morris Administrative Center. The low base bid was submitted by Wray Roofing, Inc., in the amount of $274,335. Recommendation: It is recommended that the Board enter into a contract with Wray Roofing, Inc., for a total contract sum of $319,335, which includes the above base bid and a contingency amount of $45,000 for the roof replacement at the new Alvin E. FastBridge Learning Appendix 4 Contact(s): Tiffinie Irving, Cathy Sweeney, Lisa Lutz Funding Source: Student Material Revolving Funds Purpose: This item requests funding for FastBridge Learning to replace AIMSweb. Pearson is discontinuing support for the current version of AIMSweb. FastBridge includes screeners and progress monitoring for academics and behavior, as well as an online adaptive grade skills assessment. FastBridge assessments will allow the district to continue to implement the MTSS framework and enhance the availability and use of both screening and grade level skills data through grade 10. Similar to previous multi-year contracts with Pearson, the cost of this FastBridge Learning multi-year contract with 15% discount will not exceed $775,000. Legal Services: Fleeson, Gooing, Coulson & Kitch, LLC and McDonald Tinker PA Contact(s): Shannon Krysl, Tom Powell Funding Source: 47 Fund Risk Management Reserve Fund, 42 Fund Special Liability, 52 Fund Worker s Compensation Reserve Fund Purpose: Fleeson, Gooing, Coulson & Kitch, LLC have submitted a statement for March 2017 legal services and expenses for Civil Litigation in the amount of $15,600.07. McDonald Tinker PA have submitted a statement for March 2017 legal services and expenses for Worker s Compensation in the amount of $11,812.35. This brings the year-to-date total to $145,102.25 for Civil Litigation services and $73,557.57 for Worker s Compensation services. Recommendation: It is recommended that the Board authorize payment for legal services and expenses for Civil Litigation and Worker s Compensation under the school district s self-insured programs for March 2017 in the amount of $15,600.07 to Fleeson, Gooing, Coulson & Kitch, LLC and the amount of $11,812.35 to McDonald Tinker PA. 3. Career and Technical Education: HOSA Future Health Professionals Appendix 6 National Leadership Conference Contact(s): Tiffinie Irving, Jim Means Funding Source: Teacher/advisors and chaperones costs funded by Perkins Grant. Students costs are funded through their local CTSO Chapter fundraising efforts, student s personal funds, and CTE 34 funds as appropriate. Purpose: Career and Technical Education (CTE) student members, teacher/advisors, and chaperones wish to attend the HOSA Future Health Professionals National Leadership Conference, June 21-25, 2017, in Orlando, FL. Recommendation: It is recommended that the Board authorize the students, teacher/advisors, and chaperones to attend and participate in the HOSA Future Health Professionals National Leadership Conference at a cost not to exceed $28,500. 4. Increase in Nutrition Services Meal Prices Appendix 7 Contact(s): Darren Muci, David Paul 2017-18 Budget Purpose: This agenda item requests approval of an increase in meal prices to remain in compliance with requirements of U.S. Department of Agriculture and Kansas State Board of Education. Recommendation: It is recommended that the Board authorize the district to increase the meal prices as follows beginning July 1, 2017: Elementary school student lunch price from $2.15 to $2.25; Middle school student lunch price from $2.30 to $2.40; High school student lunch price from $2.45 to $2.55; No increase in student breakfast prices; Adult lunch price from $3.45 to $3.60; and Adult breakfast price from $2.00 to $2.10. 5. Resolution 2017-02: Surplus Properties Appendix 8 Contact(s): Ken Hinkle, Tom Powell Purpose: The Superintendent is recommending that the following property be declared to be surplus: 1. Excess land at Jackson Elementary School, 2727 North Woodlawn: approximately 17 acres. 2. Blackbear Bosin Academy, 6113 East 11 th Street: property, land, and improvements. 3. Metro-Boulevard Alternative School, 751 South George Washington Boulevard: property, land, and improvements. 4. Longfellow Elementary School, 2110 South Main Street: property, land, and improvements. 5. Metro-Meridian Alternative School, 301 South Meridian: property, land, and improvements. 6. Gateway Alternative School, 640 North Emporia: property, land, and improvements. The recommendation to declare these properties to be surplus is being made because the properties are vacant, there are no future plans for the properties to be used by the District for any reason, the properties are expensive to maintain, and the sale of the properties will provide cash to the District. In order to sell the properties, the Board must first by Resolution declare the properties to be surplus. Two (2) weeks after the properties are declared surplus, the Board can sell the properties.
