ELECTION OF OFFICERS Commissioner Bagdon made a motion to nominate Lana Graser as President of the Mokena Park District; Commissioner Lindbloom seconded the motion. Nays: (0) Abstain: (1) McJimpsey Commissioner Graser made a motion to nominate John Olivieri as Vice President of the Mokena Park District; Commissioner Brogan seconded the motion. ADDITIONS, CORRECTIONS OR DELETIONS TO AGENDA None. 7. COMMUNICATIONS, PRESENTATIONS & DECLARATIONS A. Public Comments Andy Ventress - Thank you to Dawn Morsovillo, left a sweatshirt for her. I am continued to be concerned about the inconsistent non-resident fees that are not charged. Mr. Ventress wanted an apology from Commissioner Bagdon. Commissioner Bagdon denied the apology. It is Mr. Ventress opinion that a policeman be present at all the board meetings. B. Announcements As part of our Grand Opening for the Yunker Farm Splash Pad, Free Family Passes are now available at The Oaks Recreation & Fitness Center and the Administration Center, for Park District residents. Residents can obtain a Free Family Pass, good for the 2017 season, until June 4, with identification. Passes are good for up to 4 children, who must reside with the person requesting the pass. Woofstock and Pet Parade will be held on Saturday, May 20 beginning with the Free Pet Parade at 1:30. The parade will be followed by fun animal entertainment, and then some crazy canine contests! There will be contest prizes, vendor raffles, and giveaways at this fun-filled afternoon. Weather permitting and pending construction being finished, this event will be held at the new Park n Bark Dog Park. Commissioners, please bring your pups out and join us! We will be debuting our new, full color brochure this week! Watch your mailboxes later in the week, we think you ll enjoy our new look! You might recognize some faces in the brochure! C. Facility Manager - Rachel- Update resident family pass is in the hundreds for splash pad. 10. ATTORNEY S REPORT A. Appointment of Interim Attorney Mike Selep handed out an attorney report. Effective Friday, April 21st, Anthony Bruozas has resigned as legal counsel which does not include active litigation matters until new counsel has been obtained. Mike Selep read a letter from Anthony Bruozas. 11. BOARD BUSINESS A. Old Business 1. The Oaks Expansion/Yunker Farm Improvements Project Update Oaks Expansion 1. Framing and drywall in the bathroom and lobby has been completed and painted. 2. Gym MEP & FP rough is nearly complete. 3. Gym ceiling painting is completed, just some touch ups left to complete. 4. Gym equipment install is ongoing. 5. Site concrete has is completed. 6. The AHU s have been started and are running.
Mokena Community Park District Page 5 7. Retaining walls have started and seeding and planting will follow. Yunker Farm Improvements 1. Splash pad toys are installed; control wiring is ongoing. 2. Dog park and splash pad fence are complete. 3. Band shell seating is ongoing. 4. Landscaping and planting will begin as soon as the seating and drainage has been completed. B. New Business 1. The Oaks Expansion/Yunker Farm Improvements Change Orders Commissioner Olivieri made a motion to approve to table the above referenced (4) Change Orders until the special meeting; Commissioner Lindbloom seconded the motion. Ayes: (7) Graser, McJimpsey, Olivieri, Apel, Bagdon, Brogan, Lindbloom 2. IAPD Parks Day at the Capitol, Legislative Conference May 2 nd & 3 rd, Springfield, IL. This is a Motion to amend the previous travel approval. Commissioner Lindbloom made a motion to approve the 2017 IAPD Parks Day at the Capitol Legislative Conference on May 2-3, 2017 in Springfield, IL. Registration, 1 night hotel stay, meals and travel for 3 employees and 2 Commissioners, not to exceed $2,081.60; Commissioner Bagdon seconded the motion. 3. Meeting Schedule/Location Changes Commissioner Olivieri made a motion to approve the meeting schedule and location changes as stated as soon as we can move to the village hall and will put the same on the website; Commissioner Bagdon seconded the motion. We are going to release him from all legal duties and/or obligations to the Mokena Community Park District at this time; Commissioner Bagdon seconded the motion.
