Texas Emergency Nurses Association Legacy Circle The Texas Emergency Nurses Association (TxENA) has an incredible pool of talent. The TxENA has members that provide invaluable service to our region, state, and national endeavors. The Legacy Circle is an opportunity for the TxENA to recognize and reward these nurses who have provided an insurmountable amount of personal time and energy in promoting the TxENA, education, safety, awareness, and legislative guidance by providing a lifetime membership to ENA. The number of awards per year will be established by the Board of Directors of the TxENA no later than January of each award year. A criteria and point system will be established to ensure the most active of TxENA members will be selected for this honor. Requirements to be nominated: Applicant must meet all three (3) starred () criteria and obtain at least 65 points to be eligible to apply / be nominated to be considered by the Board. Criteria: 1. Member of the Texas Emergency Nurses Association for five (5) consecutive years immediately prior to selection year. 2. Served as an Officer of the TxENA any year prior to selection year. 3. Served as a TxENA - Texas ENA Delegate to General Assembly for any four (4) years. 4. Served as Texas ENA Delegate to any six (6) Texas Quarterly Meetings 5. Served on at least one (1) Texas ENA Committee. 6. Chaired or served on three (3) Committees of the TxENA, preceding the three (3) years prior to nomination. Can be three (3) different committees in one year or spread evenly throughout the preceding three (3) years or any combination. 7. Be currently certified in at least one (1) of these: CEN, CPEN, CFRN, CTRN, TCRN. 8. Recruited 10 new members in the two (2) years immediately prior to being nominated for this award. Or, have served on the membership committee that successfully recruited 10 new members during a membership drive(s) of the same period. 9. Provided at least four (4) Newsletter / article submissions over a two (2) year time frame immediately preceding being nominated; May be published in a TxENA and/or any ENA publications. Chapter publications excluded. 10. Provided at least two (2) educational CE hours over a two (2) year time frame immediately preceding being nominated; May have been the speaker, coordinator, or have served on the event s committee. This includes but is not limited to: TNCC, ENPC, Annual Conference, Monthly CE offerings, and TBON required seminars, etc. 11. Chaired and / or coordinated at least one (1) public service event in the year immediately preceding the nomination; Public service events include, but are not limited to: health fairs, medical tents, injury prevention, etc. Application Submission Requirements: Completed application must be submitted to the current TxENA President no later than July 30 th of the nominating year. Nominees must attach written proof of the above requirements with supporting documentation. Applications will be reviewed for completeness, accuracy and eligibility by the TxENA President or designee. The eligible applications will be voted upon by the TxENA Board of Directors no later than September 31 st of the nominating year in a closed session. - If the nominee(s) is a member of the TxENA Board of Directors, that individual(s) may not participate in the closed session discussion. The recognized member(s) will be announced at the 3 rd Quarter (October) meeting of the nominating year. If chosen, the Lifetime Membership will take effect on December 1 st of the awarded year or at the time of the recognized member s next membership renewal. Those newly selected TxENA Legacy Circle members who have previously paid for a Lifetime Membership will be reimbursed for their membership based on the cost of the lifetime membership at the time they obtained it. (ex. 2016 = $1250, 2014 = $1000) Or, they may request the TxENA reimburse them for another of their ENA Fellow lifetime dues; ex. life time FAEN, as long as the fee does not exceed the cost of the ENA s Lifetime Membership for the associated year. 1
