GPMC NEWS The Greater Pittsburgh Mustang Club Newsletter Visit our website at http://www.gpmc.org/ Volume 27 Issue 9 September, 2012 Next Meeting Wednesday, September 5, at Roosevelt Grove, North Park See Map and Directions on Page 5 Board Meeting 7:00 pm, General Meeting 7:30 pm Greetings Pony Lovers For the first time in many years our Hospitality Picnic had to be postponed due to severe weather. Even though the forecast looked terrible, it was a tough call to make that Saturday. But we had to decide before the burgers, dogs & corn were purchased. In hindsight it was a good decision, as it rained almost all day on Sunday. Dwight checked at Monroeville Park the next day and was told the park is booked solid for the rest of the summer (and that we lost our deposit even though it rained.) Then the Brennans called and offered their home near Zelienople to hold the picnic. Their offer really saved the day. Since the forecast looked good we decided to hold it the following Sunday. The weather cooperated beautifully, and we had a great turnout in spite of the last minute change of schedule. A BIG thanks to Ken and Sue for their hospitality and especially to Bill & ValJean and Dwight & Mary for putting it all together. The Friday following the PVGP (July 27th) was the Club s Service Nite at the Starlite Car Cruise. It should have been cancelled, as the thunderstorms were severe and show attendance poor. Ten intrepid GPMC members showed up to volunteer, so we managed to squeeze in a couple hours of dry cruising before the lightning resumed. The folks at the Northway Christian Community really appreciated our help. As many of you know by now, Mustang has been named the Marque of the Year at next year s Pgh Vintage Grand Prix. Seven Club members held a kickoff meeting on August 13th with PVGP representatives to start planning what will hopefully be a very fun time next summer. It s official this year s Fall Foliage Tour will be on Sunday, October 21st. Tim Baker, one of our newer members, has volunteered to plan the tour. Also, Mike & Erin DeLeonibus have chosen Sunday, December 9th at Ferrante s Lakeview east of Irwin for our Holiday Party. So mark your calendars now. Our membership continues to grow in large part due to our new website. We re now up to over 90 member families. Be sure to check the site regularly for the latest info on Club events. Our next meeting will be on Wednesday, September 5th back at Roosevelt Grove in North Park. This will be our last outdoor meeting of the 2012 summer season, so I hope to see you all there. Keep those motors runnin, Ken

It was moved by Mark Mo and 2 nd by Dwight H. to donate $100 to their charity. Jason will check who will be the charity. Motion carried. The parking situation at Starlite was discussed. Also discussed was that our purchase of two Patron Parking spaces at the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix could be considered a donation to the Autism Society that Ed stated could count towards another MCA President s Award.
