Research Anti-immigrant sentiment and the effects on aspirations of Latino families and their children s future (May, 2010 present) The purpose of this study is to explore the effects of current immigration legislation and anti-immigrant sentiments on the daily functioning and future aspirations of Latino families and their children in the Long Beach area. Southwest Collaborative on Immigration Inequality and Poverty (SCIIP) Founding member Current Faculty Associate SCIIP unites researchers from various universities in the U.S. and Mexico to conduct research on issues regarding migration, immigration, inequality, and poverty. Maria Gurrola- 7-10 Family reunification services after children have been removed due to substance abuse. Conducted phone interviews regarding to assess the program success. Concilio Latino de Salud, 2006-2009 HIV and substance abuse. Analyzed data in a 5 year SAMHSA grant. Participated in writing annual evaluations and future goals. HIV/Aids Project, Concilio Latino de Salud. SIRC ASU August 2005 May 2007 Analyzing data and manuscript development. Assisted with the data analysis and writing of two manuscripts one which is under review and the second which is being prepare for submission for two projects, in which one is under review. The other analysis is being prepared for submission for publication. The objective of these projects was to obtain translational data. research involving HIV/AIDS that can be utilized by the university and the community. Maintain university and community collaboration. Coordinated with a community agency to adapt and implement an acculturation questionnaire, assisted with data gathering and data entry. Substance abuse evaluation. SIRC ASU 2007 Analyzed data from pre and post test. This data was collected by an agency program, examining adolescent attitudes towards substance use. Latino Acculturation Health Project SIRC ASU 2006 Analyzed data and writing for a project in collaboration between ASU and the University of North Carolina. The primary goal of the research was to measure acculturation stress and depression, also participated in manuscript writing.
