OFFICIAL RULES PRINCESS MENTORING PROGRAM MISS MCHENRY COUNTY PAGEANTS 2017 DIRECTOR: Lovena Hunter 815-347-0561 How Do I apply and what are the Fees? Please read all the following rules and information prior to submitting your application. To apply as a contestant in the Miss McHenry County Fair Pageants, follow the instructions for the Application and submit a neatly typed or handwritten copy and a $50.00 Entry Fee. Application must be received no later than 8:00pm on Monday, June 12, 2017. Confirmation notices will be sent to applicants. Pageant Rules and Eligibility. A contestant must reside in McHenry County for at least (6) months before the contest deadline. Contestant must be a U.S. citizen. Princesses must be 5 9 years of age on the date of the pageant. Contestants must never have been convicted of a criminal offense. Contestants agree to the following: o Abide by all the rules of the pageant o Attend all rehearsals. o Behave always in a manner becoming of a true princess The McHenry County Fair Princess Mentoring Program is a non-competitive program. This program is designed to provide young girls an opportunity to grow in confidence and have a good time. As part of the Miss McHenry County Princess Mentoring Program, each girl will: 1. Have the opportunity to model a summer fun fashion of their choosing on stage during the McHenry County Fair Pageant. They will also model a party dress and answer a question about themselves. 2. Each Princess will be crowned on stage. 3. Each Princess may wear her crown and sash during the entire week at fair events. 4. NEW THIS YEAR Each princess will be assigned to a Miss / Teen Contestant who will serve as their mentor during the weeks leading to the big day. The princesses assigned to the Miss / Teen that wins the pageant will have the opportunity to serve as the Official Princess(es) of the McHenry County Fair and may be asked to attend other events throughout the year including the Official Photo Shoot and other various events throughout the year. 1
GENERAL ATTIRE Here are a few general guidelines for clothing: When in Doubt always ask your pageant director. Always choose clothing that fits correctly and makes you feel great. Check hems on skirts to see that the skirt isn t too short when you sit down and that it is straight all the way around. Skirts and dresses, must be no shorter than 2 above the knee MAKE CERTAIN TO TRY EVERYTHING ON THE WEEK BEFORE THE PAGEANT. The Fair Association, Miss McHenry County Pageant and its committee members are not responsible for lost or stolen articles or money. Please make sure all articles of clothing and accessories are labeled with your name. Contestants are permitted to bring one dress bag and a bin with a lid to hold all belongings. PLEASE CLEARLY PRINT NAME ON LID AND SIDES OF YOUR BINS! Any personal articles, i.e. makeup, clothing, tapes, etc. that are left at Farm Bureau or in dressing area s after the contest will be kept at the Fair office for ONLY 14 days. MAKE UP & HAIR Please check with directors if in question. Light make up and lip gloss is the only make up allowed for this age division. All girls should look natural. Additional Notes: Cell phones are not allowed in the dressing room and cannot be used by contestants during rehearsals. No parents or friends will be allowed to attend any of the practices. No one other than contestants and committee members/volunteers are allowed in the dressing rooms during the day of the pageant. Miss Photogenic will be chosen by our professional photographer. Entrants agree to abide by the rules of the County and State contests now in effect and as they may hereafter be announced for the good of ensuing pageants. Each princess will sign a statement agreeing to full cooperation and responsible participation in scheduled events in conjunction with the County Pageant. Princesses must follow all the above rules and obligations incurred, attending all practices starting at the scheduled time and continuing until the session is over. Princesses must notify the Pageant Director at least 2 hours before the scheduled session if they will be late, or are unable to attend any scheduled practices. A calendar is attached for review before submitting your application. 2

This is a Welcome meeting for all contestants and committee members. Town Directors and Parents are encouraged to attend. Attendance is mandatory for all candidates. We will review the rules, the calendar, and schedule, along with a general Q & A. Do not alter the format of the application. Interviews will be held in Woodstock during the day. You will not be able to use your cell phones at any time during the day. You might want to just leave them home because whatever you have with you must remain off. The pageant will be in the evening of August 1 st. Parents and family do not have reserved seats. Contestants will be escorted to the fairgrounds at 5:30 PM and the Pageant will begin promptly at 6 PM. Aug 2 nd -Aug 6 th The Queens must to be at the Fair every day. It is advised to let your employer know now that you will need time off from work should you win this title. 4
