MUNICIPALITY OF SOUTHWEST MIDDLESEX COUNCIL MINUTES MAY 6, 2015 CALL TO ORDER Mayor Blackmore called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. In attendance were Mayor Vance Blackmore, Deputy Mayor Marigay Wilkins and Councillors Karen Aranha, Rick Cowell, John Kavelaars, John Kendall, Don McCallum and Martin Vink. Cowell #15-0206 That the Municipality of Southwest Middlesex supports local action by the Middlesex-London Health Unit to reduce the risk of West Nile Virus including, larviciding catch basins and other surface water locations within our jurisdiction. In addition, Southwest Middlesex supports any permit application for West Nile Virus control submitted to the Ministry of the Environment from an appropriately licensed exterminator contracted by a private property owner, to apply a larvicide into catch basins located on private property within the Municipality of Southwest Middlesex. Wind Energy Correspondence The Administrator/Clerk was instructed to send the documents in agenda item #15(8) to the County legal department for clarification on how the situation described in those documents differs from the solar leases that Southwest Middlesex is involved in. COUNCILLORS COMMENTS AND ENQUIRIES Councillors Aranha and Cowell reported on the Emergency Registration and Intake workshop that they and Deputy Mayor Wilkins attended. Councillor Cowell also reported on his attendance at the tour of the West Lorne water treatment facility. The Mayor advised that the Rodney Cadet Corps was interested in finding a facility in Glencoe in which to meet and that the Facility & Recreation Manager would be assisting them on that. CLOSED SESSION (Committee of the Whole) R. Cowell / K. Aranha #15-0231 That, as of 9:20p.m., the next portion of the meeting be closed to the public as permitted by Section 239 of the Municipal Act S.O. 2001, c.25, to discuss a potential acquisition of property and to deal with procedural matters (closed session minutes). Coming out of the closed session at 9:40 p.m., the Deputy Mayor reported that direction had been given to staff with respect to the possible acquisition of property and that procedural matters (closed session minutes) had been dealt with.
