The event is scheduled for Saturday, November 11, 2017, between the hours of 4:00 pm - 10:00 pm. This public gathering is to be held at 7224 Georgia Highway 21, Port Wentworth, Georgia 31407. Council Member Bill Herrin made a motion to delay the discussion of the Quit Claim Deed until the next regular scheduled Council Meeting. PUBLIC COMMENTS - REGISTERED SPEAKERS Maurice Rahn, 501 Bonnybridge Road, addressed Mayor and Council to express his concerns about the DSI Project taking place on Bonnybridge and Appleby Road. Mr. Rahn stated that he feels the City has granted "encroachment rights" to the neighborhood and has failed to notify City of Port Wentworth Generated: 10/11/2017 10:55 AM Page 4
the public properly. Mayor Jones stated that the City would look into possibly expanding its notification to residents outside of the normal rule of homes within 250 feet of construction to be certain all constituents are keep abreast of any changes that will affect their neighborhood. Rufus Bright, 54 Tiller Way, approached Mayor and Council to ask if anyone would like to purchase tickets to the NAACP 100th Anniversary Celebration for the Savannah Branch. The event will take place on Saturday, October 28, 2017 beginning at 12 noon at the Savannah International Trade and Convention Center. Mr. Bright stated that the ticket price is One Hundred Dollars ($100) and looks forward to the City of Port Wentworth being represented at the event. Linda Smith, 828 Barnsley Road, directed her concerns to Mayor and Council regarding the large political signs that have been erected illegally on state right of ways. Gary Norton, 105 Gordon Street, wanted to go on record to show his recommendation was for a different type of warehouse to placed where the current DSI building is located.. 15. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business, Council Member Bill Herrin made a motion to adjourn. Seconded by Council Member Barbara Powers. Vote was unanimous. Mayor G.
