EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMME 2017 European Social Dialogue

The great aim of education is not knowledge but action. Herbert Spencer (1820-1903) British philosopher and sociologist Dear Sirs and Madams, dear friends of EZA, Today, we are pleased to present you with our 2017/18 educational programme on the European Social Dialogue. The European Centre for Workers Questions (EZA) is a network of 71 employee organizations from 29 European countries that share Christian-social values and that have based their work on Christian social teachings. The EZA network includes trade unions and sociocultural employee organizations as well as adult education and academic institutions that conduct research into social and employment issues. EZA s educational programme is designed to address three fundamental questions: 1. How to become a worker? 2. Which factors have a direct influence on professional life? 3. What elements of working life influence workers quality of life? On a more specific level, EZA tackles issues such as Digital world of work, the European Pillar of Social Rights, Integrating migrants and refugees in the labour market, Posting of workers: new forms of work and combating social dumping, Including the unemployed, long-term unemployed, and sick and disabled workers and Healthy workplaces for all ages. At the same time, EZA continues to conduct its special project for employee organizations in the Western Balkans. The target audience of the EZA educational programme consists of opinion leaders and so-called multipliers from trade unions and other employee organizations, with a specific focus on young people. In the spirit of the British philosopher and sociologist Herbert Spencer (see the quote above), our seminars aim to enable employee representatives to act effectively for the benefit of their constituents, meeting the many challenges of the modern working environment. At the same time, the European dimension of our events is meant to strengthen our common European identity and to provide a forum for lively exchanges of views and experiences. On the following pages, we will provide you with more information about our seminars: the topics they deal with, the organizations that conduct them (as well as any underlying projects), the venues, the dates and the (planned) conference languages.

Please contact the host organization directly if you decide to take part in any of our seminars. You are also welcome to subscribe to our free electronic newsletter, the quarterly EZA News, which provides information about our ongoing projects and activities. Order your personal copy via our website (www.eza.org) or send us an email (goeden@eza.org). Finally, we would like to draw your attention to a series of publications called the EZA Contributions to Social Dialogue. You can find further details about individual titles on the EZA website and place your orders by sending us an email (znined@eza.org). United with our friends and partners in our commitment to a stronger Social Dialogue in Europe, we are looking forward to welcoming many participants at the events of the forthcoming educational year. Königswinter, March 2017 Sigrid Schraml, Secretary-General, and the EZA team
