Top Wings of Amarillo GWRRA Chapter A April 2017 Newsletter Page 3 CD S CHATTE R G LENN & JUDY TYLER C HAPTE R D IRECTORS Glenn & Judy Tyler Chapter Directors Welcome members, The topic for this month is the 40 to Phoenix ride coming through Amarillo. We are expecting 103 riders to hit Amarillo on Sunday, April 2. The weather is expected to be in the middle 70 s with sunshine. We had about 15 sign up to help at our March gathering at Dyer s and we could use anyone else who is available on Sunday afternoon. The more members of our club who can participate, the better we will represent GWR- RA Chapter A and the City of Amarillo. We have reserved the Tasajillo Pavilion on the back side of Palo Duro Canyon for that day. We will be gathering supplies and ordering the food this week. This was our largest fund raiser for the Texas Ussery Roan Veterans Home last year. We do not charge for the event but do ask for donations from the riders. Please support the group if you can clear your schedule and attend. Thanks as always, Glenn & Judy Tyler Chapter A Directors

Page 10 Picture of the Month On March 26, several Topwings gathered at Ray Latta s shop to replace air filters. Above are the bikes of Gene Rogers, Ray Latta, Russell Rhea, and Joe Babcock with new filters installed. John Kelly and Wayne Early provided much appreciated help, tools, and experienced advice. Many thanks to Ray for his knowledge, shop, and for putting this together. Wayne laughs as Russell gets his hand stuck in the glove box. (fake news!) Joe tries to keep his bike from exploding after John dropped a cigarette on the gas tank. (more fake news!!) The green filter was judged by a panel of experts to be the dirtiest. (NOT fake news!) Guess whose it was?

HISTORY OF THE HONDA GOLDWING Page 11 A several-months-long, on-going article about the history of the machine that gives our club it s name. The word new cannot do justice to the GL1800. Exceptional power alone tells a big story. In terms of power, the new Gold Wing is literally in a class of one. Likewise, the list of long-legged mounts offering a box-section aluminum frame begins with the word Gold and ends with Wing. And that's only the beginning. Before the GL1800 was completed, Honda would patent no less than 20 technological innovations that were incorporated into this amazing high-performance luxury motorcycle.
