These classes are offered as electives during specials time, so students are not required to sign up. A paper with all of this information came home yesterday.

Ø No outside vendor food is allowed. Ø Sign in at the office and then join us in the cafeteria. Ø Our lunch times vary depending on your child's 2nd block. Sometimes there may be a schedule change. Ø Lunch Times: Ø Craft 11:02-11:27 Ø Fagan 11:05-11:30 Ø Rees 11:08-11:33 Ø Stephenson 11:11-11:36

Ø Student must have supplies everyday including earbuds. Ø Homework is due as assigned. Ø Students will write their classwork and homework in the agenda for each class.

Ø All MAC students are required to follow the behavior expectations listed below: Ø Be on Time Ø Be Prepared Ø Do Assigned Work Ø Get Along with Others Ø Follow Directions Ø Be Dressed Appropriately

Ø Students will receive warning infractions this year for failing to following the behavior expectations. 3 violations of the behavior expectations, in the same category, will result in one infraction. Ø Infractions will be given for minor and major offenses. A list of possible offenses are located in the front of the agenda. Ø All warnings and infractions will be documented on the Mckeel Schools Systems. This system will email you by the end of the day if a violation occurs. If you want to reply to the teacher about the infraction please email the teacher directly. You cannot reply to the teacher from the email sent. Also, parents can login to this new system anytime by going to systems.mckeelschools.com. Ø You do not need to sign the agenda each night and there is no cat card for behavior in the agenda. If you need to write us a note, email is best or tell your child to show us the note in the agenda. Ø Agendas will be used for writing down classwork and homework. The student handbook is located in the front and the absence record sheet is located in the front.

Ø This year we will be using a positive behavior system in our classes as well. Ø Students will have a Star Card. They will earn hole punches when positive behaviors occur in class and out of class: employability skills are followed, showing respect to others, being kind, being an active learner, being responsible, and putting others first. Ø Getting hole punches will lead to 6 different rewards. Ø Students have to be responsible and keep up with their cards. If they lose it they will have to start over.

Ø Parents and students need to keep a record of absences, tardies, and checkouts on the tracking sheet in the agenda. Ø You will need to keep copies of doctor notes in your records. Ø McKeel does not recognize excused absences. Ø Once you miss 10 days, are tardy 10 times, or check out 10 times administration will make contact. Please keep doctor notes, etc Ø Students are responsible for collecting their make up work before or after they miss school. Canvas is a great place to look for work to be made up. Ø School starts at 8:15 and ends at 3:00.

Ø We are in the planning process of our field trips. Ø There will be a $25 due required each semester to help cover the costs of field trips. First payment is due by October 1st. The online payment option is open from today, 8/21-10/1. Ø We will be doing a cookie dough fundraiser to raise additional money needed for our field trips. October 22 nd -Nov. 2 nd with delivery on Dec. 3 rd. Ø Volunteer forms to attend field trips are due September 14th. Log onto mckeelcentral.com > Our school >Volunteer Policy and then click on the link on this page. Ø Only chaperones who are family members are allowed to check students out from field trips.

Ø Each student will be required to career shadow at a job of their choice. Ø Must be with someone other than immediate family. Ø Parents are responsible for transportation to and from the location chosen. Ø Career Day is scheduled for Wednesday, October 10th. Ø More details will come home soon!

Ø Our teacher websites are available to help answer any questions and keep you updated with information. Ø Login/register at www.mckeelcentral.com Ø The best way to reach us is through email, our planning is in the middle of the day. Ø Teachers will communicate through email, Remind, phone calls, the agenda, and parent conferences.

Ø Sign up tonight to receive important messages via text message. Ø Text 81010 to @mac6t

Ø Each student has been assigned an ipad and is responsible for it throughout the school day. Ø We expect the ipads to be treated with respect and used appropriately. Ø Digital citizenship: Our first elective course for the first nine weeks. We believe our students need guidance from parents and teachers in order to be safe and appropriate online. Ø ipads will be going home soon. Please fill out and return the contract and payment asap. Students are responsible for making sure the ipad is well taken care of, fully charged, and comes to school everyday.

Ø We are using a new gradebook this year! We will be giving you more information about it when it is totally set up and ready to go. Ø 6th grade is using the 4,3,2,1 proficiency scale in all subjects. Ø Reminders: A 4 does not equal an A. We do not give percentage grades.

Ø Forensic Science (Stephenson) Ø Cultural Creativity(Fagan) Ø Growth Mindset (Rees) Ø Intensive Math 2Q-3Q/ Marketing 4Q (Craft) Ø Coding (Gifted teacher- Edmonds)

Ø Parents will login through the student account. Ø Each teacher uses Canvas in different ways. Please have your student show you each class and how they are using Canvas in class. Ø Canvas is a great place to look for information or assignemnts. If your child is absent, has missing assignments, or needs additional information please have them look in Canvas. Ø Please note that just because there is an assignment in Canvas doesn t mean there will be a grade in the gradebook.

Ø Each teacher will discuss their own class Ø Math Ø Language Arts Ø Science Ø World Cultures

Ø Students need to bring a water bottle each day. Classroom doors are locked for safety and students getting water during class is a disturbance for others. Ø Students are allowed to bring a snack from home to have in the afternoon or purchase a snack from us for $1. Any profit made from snacks goes back to purchasing items for our sixth graders. Ø Make sure names are in jackets! Ø Drug Prevention- This is a 9 week program free to our students by Mrs. White from Project Alert. Ø Book Buddies- We buddy up with Kindergarten a couple of times a month to read with them. Ø Service Project- Salvation Army Stockings Ø 6th Grade shirts will go on sale soon.
