Regular School Board Meeting May 17, 2017 5:15 P.M. Striving for Educational Excellence The May meeting of the Directors of the Searcy School District was held at the administration office with board members Linda Benson, Dr. Brent Blakely, Jimmy Simpson, Philip Williams, and Dr. Michael Liles present. Superintendent Diane Barrett was also in attendance. Disposition of Minutes of Previous Meeting on April 26, 2017 A motion was made by Philip Williams, seconded by Dr. Brent Blakely, to approve the minutes of the April 26, 2017, regular board meeting. The motion passed unanimously. Lion Pride EAST Program Kay Carpenter, Teacher EAST students presented information on two projects they are trying to develop: a Miracle League field near the city baseball complex and a butterfly garden at Searcy High School. Swim Team and Individual State Title l- Chad Price, Coach Mr. Price recognized the swimming accomplishments of Erin McGuirt including being named an All-American. Searcy High School Yearbook Shannon Holeyfield, Sponsor Yearbooks were presented to the board members by members of the yearbook staff. Financial Report A motion was made by Dr. Michael Liles, seconded by Jimmy Simpson, to approve the financial report as presented. The motion passed unanimously. Proposed Budget of Expenditures Together With Tax Levy For Fiscal Year Beginning July 1, 2018, To And Including June 30, 2019 PROPOSED BUDGET OF EXPENDITURES TOGETHER WITH TAX LEVY FOR FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING JULY 1, 2018, TO AND INCLUDING JUNE 30, 2019

The Board of Directors of Searcy Special School District of White County, Arkansas in compliance with the requirements of A.C.A. # 6-13-622 and Amendment 74 of the Constitution of the State of Arkansas, has prepared, approved, and does hereby make public a proposed budget of expenditures for the district in 2018-2019 together with supporting tax rate as follows: 1. Salary Fund Expenditures $16,897,273.00 2. Instructional Expense $ 5,385,938.00 3. Maintenance & Operation Expense $ 4,694,836.00 4. Pupil Transportation Expense $ 1,718,685.00 5. Other Operating Expense $ 4,343,221.00 6. Non-bonded Debt Payment -0-7. Bonded Debt Payment $ 2,323,029.00 8. Building Fund Expense -0-9. Dedicated Maintenance and Operation $ 75,000.00 To provide for the foregoing proposed budget of expenditures, the Board of Directors proposes a total school tax rate (state and local) of 35.70 mills on the dollar of the assessment value of taxable property located in this School District. The total tax levy proposed above includes the current Uniform Rate of Tax of 25.0 mills to be collected on all taxable property in the State and remitted to the State Treasurer. This is pursuant to Amendment No. 74 to the Arkansas Constitution and is to be used solely for maintenance and operation of schools in the State. The total proposed school tax levy of 35.70 mills includes 25.0 mills specifically voted for general maintenance and operation and 10.70 mills for debt service. The 10.70 debt service mills will be a continuing levy pledged for the retirement of existing bonded indebtedness. Surplus revenues produced each year by debt service millage may be used by the District for other school purposes. The total proposed school tax levy of 35.7 mills represents the same rate presently being collected. Athletic and Voluntary Student Insurance A motion was made by Brent Blakely, seconded by Philip Williams, to continue the district s student and athletic insurance with Benchmark Insurance for the 2017-2018 school year. The motion passed unanimously. Science Textbook Adoption A motion was made by Dr. Michael Liles, seconded by Philip Williams, to approve the following books for adoption. The motion passed unanimously. It is appropriate that all dates in the personnel policies that reflect the current year 2016-2017, shall be change to reflect their

application to the coming 2017-2018 school year. If changes are made in the rules and regulations by the Arkansas Department of Education or state and federal law, the necessary changes will be made to become consistent with state and federal law, rules and regulations. The motion passed unanimously. Accreditation Report Superintendent Diane Barrett reported that all schools are fully accredited. End of School Dates Last day of school is scheduled for May 24 th and May 25 th being a teacher work day.
