DISTRICT ATTORNEY EARL TAYLOR MEDIA RELEASE August 7, 2007 48 Felony Criminals Convicted in July Every month, the St. Landry Parish District Attorney s Office releases the names of felons who were either found guilty or not guilty at trial, or pled guilty to the charges brought against them. It is District Attorney Earl Taylor s policy not to engage in plea bargains. Consequently, the vast majority of pleas in St. Landry Parish are guilty as charged. In limited circumstances, such as the existence of evidentiary problems, or concern for the welfare of the victim, or at the request of the victim, plea agreements are considered. July 2007: Trials: 4 Guilty, 0 Not Guilty Pled Guilty as Charged: 44 Trial Dates Set and Disposition: In a bench trial scheduled before Judge Alonzo Harris, Peter Baptiste, 24, a resident of 204 Mcclelland Rd., Opelousas, LA, pled guilty to Unauthorized Entry of an Inhabited Dwelling and Simple Robbery prior to the trial and was sentenced to two years hard labor each count concurrent. In a bench trial scheduled before Judge Alonzo Harris, Johnathan Mason, 31, a resident of 555 Fred St., Eunice, LA, pled guilty to First-degree Robbery prior to the trail and was sentenced to seven years hard labor without benefit of probation, parole or suspension of sentence. In a trial scheduled before Judge Alonzo Harris, Jonavan Chevis, 35, a resident of 817 Patsy, Opelousas, LA. Was tried by a 6 person jury on the charges of Aggravated 2 nd Degree Battery and Aggravated Battery. The jury found Jonavan Chevis guilty of Aggravated 2 nd Degree Battery and not guilty of aggravated battery and sentencing is set for September 21, 2007. In a trial scheduled before Judge Alonzo Harris, Rocklin Bellard, 55, a resident of 520 Roosevelt Ave., Eunice LA, pled guilty to Molestation of a Juvenile prior to the trial and was sentenced to three years hard labor suspended, three years active supervised probation, and one year parish jail with work release.

Before assigning cases for trial, the following defendants were convicted by guilty pleas, as follows: ALEX BELLOW, 40, a resident of 2150 Dudley St., Eunice, LA, pled guilty as charged to Aggravated Battery with a Dangerous Weapon. MELINDA TAYLOR, 49, a resident of 1195 Portage Rd., Arnaudville, LA, pled guilty as charged to Nine (9) counts of Forgery. ALLEN FRANK, 31, a resident of 321 Maple Dr., Eunice, LA, pled guilty as charged to Possession of Cocaine. JAMES BELL, 47, a resident of 515 Roy St., Opelousas, LA, pled guilty as charged to Third DWI. PRESTON BEARB, 60, a resident of 515 Hwy 178, Church Point, LA, pled guilty as charged to Possession of Stolen Goods. JOHN DAVID FONTENOT, 33, a resident of 2058 Church Rd., Opelousas, LA, pled guilty as charged to Theft valued in the excess of One Thousand Dollars. JEREMY GUIDROZ, 23, a resident of 1187 Cypress Island Hwy Lot 17, St. Martinville, LA, pled guilty as charged to Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle. SHELIA PITRE, 28, a resident of 615 Kim Dr., Opelousas, LA, pled guilty as charged to Forgery. KENNETH MOORE, 33, a resident of 1310 Rose St., Eunice, LA, pled guilty as charged to Two (2) counts of Distribution of Hydrocodone. RANDALL COURVILLE, 46, a resident of 215 Last St., Arnaudville, LA, pled guilty as charged to Three (3) counts of Simple Burglary of an Inhabited Dwelling. NATHAN BOAST, 31, a resident of 1158 E. Sandoz, Opelousas, LA, pled guilty as charged to Possession of Cocaine and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. NICOLE FONTENOT, 33, a resident of 1048 Samuel Dr., Eunice, LA, pled guilty as charged to Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle. ROBERT BENOIT, 34, a resident of 1516 Montgomery, Opelousas, LA, pled guilty as charged to Simple Burglary of an Inhabited Dwelling. JEREMY SOILEAU, 26, a resident of 1344 Montgomery, Opelousas, LA, pled guilty as charged to Third DWI.

KENNETH MOORE, 33, a resident of 1310 Rose St., Eunice, LA, pled guilty as charged to Possession of Cocaine and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. DAVID SOILEAU, 41, a resident of 866 Howard Rd., Opelousas, LA, pled guilty as charged to Criminal Damage to Property and Theft. JEREMY CROSS, 20, a resident of 2857 Bring Gen Isaac Smith, New Orleans, LA, pled guilty as charged to Unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. FRANK CLAY, 33, a resident of 213 W. Berthaud, Opelousas, LA, pled guilty as charged to Aggravated Battery. SCOTT THOMAS, 23, a resident of 2751 Hwy 347, Leonville, LA, pled guilty as charged to Theft valued in Excess of Five Hundred Dollars. FRANK BELLARD, JR., 48, a resident of 1210 W. South St., Opelousas, LA, pled guilty as charged to Simple Burglary. MATTHEW KEYS, 20, a resident of 751 Hall St., Opelousas, LA, pled guilty as charged to Simple Burglary and Contributing to the Delinquency of a Juvenile. TROY BOUDREAUX, 39, a resident of 250 Howard, Opelousas, LA, pled guilty as charged to Twelve counts of Criminal Damage to Coin Operated Machines. MATTHEW KEYS, 20, a resident of 751 Hall St., Opelousas, LA, pled guilty as charged to Attempted Simple Escape. DONALD BOURGEOIS, 40, a resident of 208 Robin St., Port Barre, LA, pled guilty as charged to Second Offence Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Methadone.
