Student Senate Regular Meeting Agenda Friday, October 21, 2016 9:00 am Santa Barbara City College, Student Senate Room (CC 223) 721 Cliff Drive, Santa Barbara, CA 93109 NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Student Senate of the Associated Student Government of Santa Barbara City College will hold a regular meeting on October 21, 2016 at 9:00 am. The meeting information is noted below. The Senate reserves the right to suspend the orders of the day if necessary to conduct business. All Student Senate meetings are held in locations that are wheelchair accessible. Other disability related accommodations will be provided to persons with disabilities upon request. 1.0 ROLL CALL Meeting comes to order @ 9:04am Maggie Hodgins-absent David Penbehchi- absent Mckinley Morgado- absent 2.0 READING AND APPROVAL OF MINUTES 3.0 REPORTS OF OFFICERS, SENATORS, AND ADVISORS This time is an opportunity for Officers, Senators and Advisors to report on their duties and update the Senate on any projects they have been working on. Unless otherwise determined by the Senate, a time limit of ten (10) minutes per Officer or advisor shall be observed. Unless otherwise determined by the Senate, a time limit of ten (10) minutes per Chair shall be observed. No action will be taken. 3.16 Executive Committee (Dylan Raiman, Chair) Approval of $1700 budget for the ASG Orientation. Approval of $200 budget for ASG photographs. 3.17 Voter Turnout Committee (Cristian Walk, Chair) 4.0 OLD BUSINESS 4.1 Senate Shirts, Name Tags, & Nameplates - Discussion/Action (Committee 10 minutes) The Senate will discuss and possibly take action on ordering Senate shirts, nametags, and nameplates. Can shirts come out of the SRF Joshua Villanueva moves to spend $200 on shirts out of ASG fund Yeihoon Choi seconds Motion passes 4.2 Tabling - Discussion/Action (Joshua Villanueva, Vice President of Internal Affairs 5 minutes)
The Senate will discuss and possibly take action on planning ASG tabling. 4.3 Good Neighbor Barbecue/Movie Night Discussion/Action (Amy Collins, ASG Advisor 5 minutes) The Senate will discuss and possibly take action regarding the Good Neighbor Barbecue and Movie Night. Saturday 10/29 Good Neighbor BBQ 2-4pm and movie night 7:00 to 9:00pm (nightmare before christmas) Bounce house, face paint, free tickets for football game, costume contest Help with setup and clean-up; getting the word out to the neighborhood Maggie Hodgins, David, Emiley volunteers 4.4 Audrie & Daisy Documentary Discussion/Action (Joshua Villanueva, Vice President of Internal Affairs 10 minutes) The Senate will discuss and possibly take action regarding the Good Neighbor Barbecue and Movie Night. Movie starting at 6pm Cookies and coffee 4.5 ASG Orientation and Retreat Discussion/Action (Dylan Raiman, President 5 minutes) The Senate will discuss and possibly take action on the ASG Orientation and Retreat planning and budget. Joshua Villanueva moves to approve the budget that the executive committee recommended ($1700) Sebastian Rothstein seconds Motion carries 4.5 Accountability Policy Discussion/Action (Joshua Villanueva, Vice President of Internal Affairs 10 minutes) The Senate will discuss and possibly take action on the ASG Accountability Policy. 4.6 Student Leadership Summit Discussion/Action (Dylan Raiman, President 5 minutes) The Senate will discuss and possibly take action on the Student Leadership Summit in regards to planning and budget.
November 19th, 2016 (could be moved to spring) 5.0 NEW BUSINESS 5.1 Clubs Policy Discussion/Action (Maggie Hodgins, Commissioner of Clubs & Organizations 15 minutes) The Senate will discuss the Commissioner of Clubs & Organization s newly revised club policy. 5.2 Club Charters & Grants Discussion/Action (Senate 15 minutes) The Senate will hear presentations from clubs for consideration of the approval of club charters and grants. The charters of the following clubs (presented in past meetings) will be voted on: none. The following club grant requests (presented in past meetings) will be voted on: none. Engineering Club 5.3 Music Event Discussion/Action (Senate 5 minutes) The Senate will discuss and possibly take action regarding a music event. Joshua Villanueva starting a Music Event Committee Sebastian Rothstein moves to suspend Robert's Rules and move back to 5.2 Joshua Villanueva seconds 5.4 Advocacy Committee Discussion/Action (Bryanna Siguenza, Vice President of External Affairs 5 minutes) The Senate will be given a presentation regarding the Advocacy Committee. Working on voter outreach and education Kevin, Cristian, and Mckinley will join the committee 5.5 Photography Budget Discussion/Action (Committee 5 minutes) The Committee will discuss and possibly take action, including passing a budget, regarding photography for the ASG website. Joshua moves to approve $200 for the 18 headshots, group photo, and action shots for the whole school year Mckinley seconds the motion Motion passes 5.1 Educational Grants Proposal Discussion/Action (Maggie Hodgins, Commissioner of Clubs & Organizations 10 minutes) The Senate will discuss the Educational Grants Proposal.
Cristian Walk moves to extend time by 5 minutes Sebastian Rothstein seconds Motion passes 6.0 PUBLIC COMMENT Members of the public have the opportunity to directly address the Student Senate on any item of interest to the public that is within the Senate s jurisdiction. Unless otherwise determined by the Senate, a time limit of five (5) minutes per speaker and twenty (20) minutes per topic shall be observed. Senators may only briefly respond to statements made or questions posed by the public. For further information, please contact the Student Senate Chair for the item of discussion to be placed on a future agenda. (Brown Act 54954.3) 7.0 ANNOUNCEMENTS This time is reserved for any Senators or Senate Advisors to make announcements on items not on the agenda. Unless otherwise determined by the Senate, a time limit of five minutes per speaker shall be observed. No action will be taken.
