Call to Order President Jacob Hinton called the Carolina Veteran s Organization Executive Board to order at 6:13 PM. Approval of the Minutes The minutes from Wednesday, February 4, 2015 were revised by the board and subsequently approved. New Business Votes No votes were held. Updates Zach has copies of CVO flyers and brochures to be distributed across campus; these will be put out as soon as possible. Advertising the CVO on the Chapel Hill buses would cost $96 per month for advertising on half of the buses, or $143 per month for advertising on all of the buses. Zach is working on getting inactive CVO members involved in the organization again. Jacob, Charles, Matt, and Mike met over the past week about reaching out to veterans in the C-STEP program. Charles has scheduled upcoming socials and coordinated with Jessica. The 21 February outlet will be held at Drake s Landing; Jessica has posted this outlet publicly already. A packing list is needed for those who are attending. Mike Hart has spoken to the Public Relations volunteers about creating flyers for each outlet. All February 2015 outlets will have flyers generated by the end of Sunday, 15 February, 21015. 3
The HGTV proposal concerning the veteran s center was not approved by the network. Matt met with the owner of TOPO on Franklin Street about having him as a guest in an upcoming CVO meeting. The 16 February, 2015 service project at the Durham Rescue Mission is ready to go. About 270 people will need to be served. Matt is working on acquiring access to a fraternity or sorority kitchen for future service projects. New CVO T-Shirts are still available for purchase for $10. Tommy and Mike Piro have added a donation button to the CVO website; this will be fully functional as soon as possible. Tommy and Mike Piro are also working on CVO accounting. Tommy will take the Treasurer s Test sometime during the week of 16 February, 2015. Speakers are needed for the Red, White, and Blue ceremony. This ceremony will be held the Friday before graduation at 8:30 AM location TBA. Jacob has finished working on the CVO bylaws that will govern both aspects of the future CVO: The Board of Directors and the Student Organization. Lara and Charles will meet about a creating a female veteran s event. All Executive Board Meeting Minutes are to be posted on the CVO website. The CVO will now be active on Sakai. Shane has already started work on this. Charles met with incoming veterans from Fayetteville Tech and has fostered a good relationship with them and the CVO. Proposals The board proposed the creation and distribution of CVO Military Appreciation Game T-Shirts for fall 2015. A proposal must be made and submitted for approval by summer 2015. 4
A proposal has been made for a new Facebook group. This group would be closed but allow for members with non-unc e-mails. Member participation in the Veteran s Affairs work study program. Reminders Utilize positions within the CVO properly. ROTC cadets and cadre are welcome to all CVO socials and outlets. Please invite as many friends (with a military background) as possible to all socials and outlets. The CVO has no official comment regarding the triple homicide in Chapel Hill on 10 February, 2015. The CVO is a non-partisan organization. The CVO is a secular organization. Adjournment President Select Michael Hart adjourned the meeting at 7:06 PM. 5
