Senator Shane: This doesn t change the criminal aspect, only the university policies which bar students from housing and dining halls 3. Senator King? How does this make our campus safer? I fell it adds more leniency
a. Seikal: I don t think this enables drug use, I think it just reduces the unnecessary and draconian impacts of use this makes it an educational experience not a punitive one. 4. Senator Ojo: Are you asking for any amount to be equalized? a. Seikal: not exactly, if you are growing, manufacturing, or dealing that is a different case. 5. Senator Ojo: Do you know if people of different races of are targeted for all drugs or just marijuana? a. Senator Warren: Drug arrests are disproportionally among people of color regardless of the drug 6. Senator Ojo: Do you think this will make students feel more uncomfortable in their dorms? a. Seikal: this will not make having heroine okay, it will still be against policy but will reduce punishments. 7. Senator Youngs-Bailey: Have you thought about underscoring in the bill that students will still experience consequences? a. Seikal: I would be open to adding that to contextualize 8. Senator Dickerson: What is the cap to possession when it comes to personal use versus intent to distribute? a. Seikal: There is not a set policy regarding amounts when it comes to university punishments, it s a caseby-case basis but will probably reflect the legal charges 9. Senator Graham: this says you get a warning for any schedule one drug? a. Seikal: Yes, if it s a first-time offence. 10.
