Student VISA & ARC 01
1. Student VISA & ARC If You Arrive in Korea with D-2 Visa Students possessing D-2 visa issued under name of KU MUST apply for Alien Registration Card(ARC) * Please check if you have correct visa type for your program: - Masters: D-2-3 - Ph.D, MS&Ph.D Integrated : D-2-4 hikorea.go.kr Sejongno Immigration Office Until 2018.09.07(Fri) Arrival in Korea Online Reservation for visit Requirements for ARC Application Form, a Passport Sized Photo Fee 30,000 KRW Passport, and Copy of the Passport Page with Your Photo & D- 2 Visa Each Proof of Residency Certificate of Registration (Tuition Payment Receipt) Certificate of Enrollment (Applicable to those visiting the office after 9.1) Invitation Letter from National Institute for International Education of Korea * (for students doing Korean Gov. Scholarship Program) Submit Arrival Report at Graduate School

Scholarship Program) Student who have student visa(d-2) from other university and entering KU as freshman again with the same degree from previous school(ex. Ph.D from other school Ph.D at KU) MUST make a departure and apply for new student visa(d-2) from Korean Consulate in home-country

Extension of Stay Alien Registration Card (ARC) Extension Period & Requirements ARC extension can be done 4 months in advance of the expiry date written at the back of ARC Students doing COURSEWORK(D-2) Generally given period of registration for graduation (vary by major) 유학 (D-2) Requirements for ARC Extension Application Form, Passport, and ARC Certificate of Enrollment, and Transcript Financial Statement *Students with GPA under C(2.0) ONLY - Student s own bank account in Korea with 2,100,000 KRW / 6 months - Student s own bank account in Korea with 4,200,000 KRW / 1 year Fee 60,000 KRW Proof of Residency Tuberculosis Test Result (If not submitted after 2016.03.02) - Only for those from the 19 countries* International students studying in Korea are under the restriction of ARC and the Immigration Law * Permission for extension of stay may vary by individual s situation

Extension of Stay Alien Registration Card (ARC) Extension Period & Requirements COMPLETED-RESEARCH(D-2) Students who have not finished degree dissertation for graduation All international completed-research students Receipt of Your online reservation Application form - if you choose to visit Sejongno instead of applying it online Passport ARC Certificate of Registration Academic Transcript Confirmation Form for Academic Advisor On Student Thesis Schedule - This form MUST be signed both by the academic advisor and GSC Financial Statement from the bank - Student s own bank account in Korea with 2,100,000 KRW / 6 months - Student s own bank account in Korea with 4,200,000 KRW / 1 year Proof of Residency Tuberculosis Test Result (If not submitted after 2016.03.02) - Only for those from the 19 countries* Fee of 60,000KRW (in cash) MUST register at KU every semester During the 1 st regular registration period(february/august) before the semester begins or else the student visa(d-2) may be terminated and not issued again Must be signed by GSC

Extension of Stay Valid Period of Stay - For student visa(d-2) holder Duration of Coursework: Generally given period of registration for graduation (vary by major) Length of Studentship: Maximum period which a degree dissertation must be submitted for graduation (after completion) Valid Period for Student Visa (D-2): Maximum available period for student visa(d-2) and its extension
4. Extension of Stay Valid Period of Stay - For student visa (D-2) holder International students with student visa(d-2) MUST finish the study within the valid period of student visa(d-2) permitted by the immigration office of Korea Duration of Coursework: Generally given period of registration for graduation (vary by major) Length of Studentship: Maximum period which a degree dissertation must be submitted for graduation Visa Validity Period: Maximum available period for student visa(d-2) and it extension

5. Reporting Changes of ARC When Passport Information is Changed Online (PC) Report is available at hikorea.go.kr Report the change to the immigration office within 14 days of occurrence Change of Passport Info. Passport name, sex, nationality, birthday, passport number, and expiry date (newly extended) Change of Alien Registration Info. Address (residency) etc. Lost of ARC (visit & apply for re-issuance)
5. Reporting Changes of ARC Change of Address It is MANDANTORY to report the change of address in 14 Days Kazakhstan Guldana Zolzana (passport name) Immigration Office City hall, Gu Office Dong Office On-Campus Confirmation of Residence issued by the CJ I-House & the payment receipt Off-Campus(house, Gosiwon, Hasukjib, etc) Rental Contract under YOUR NAME * If the contract is not under your name, you MUST submit the copy of Accommodation Provider s ID Card & Confirmation of Residence'

6. Change in Student Status(D-2) DEPARTURE Leave of Absence Withdrawal Exchange/Dual Degree Abroad Completion Graduation ARC will be expired regardless of the expiry date written at the back of it, and it is MANDATORY to make a departure within 15 days Departure Enrolled Student Leave of Absence Non-Registration, Leave, Withdrawal, and Expulsion Completion, and Graduation International Exchange/Visiting Program (Outbound) For students participating in outbound programs, GSC will provide the information regarding the change of visa individually * ARC is valid ONLY for the students who are registered at the university and studying in Korea If the student do not register for a semester, the student visa (D-2) will be automatically terminated
6. Change in Student Status(D-2) ARRIVAL Reinstatement application period for international students 2 months before the beginning of the semester(*please refer to GSC Website) Applying for Reinstatement Issuing of the Certificate of Admission (E-mail & Postal mail) Applying for D-2 Visa Arrival in Korea Department Office (E-mail) GSC Overseas Korean Embassies/Consulates Re-Issuance of ARC In case of reinstatement, all international students must apply for new student visa(d-2) and Alien Registration Card(ARC)
Part-Time Work 07
7. Part-Time Work How to Apply for Part-Time Work Freshmen CANNOT apply for part-time work on 1st semester 1 2 3 Employment Prepare the requirements Part-time Work of International Student Confirmation Form with the Employer s Signature Standard Employment Contract Certificate of the Employer s Business Registration Transcript of the previous semester Visit GSC After checking the requirements, GSC officer will sign the confirmation form 4 Visit the Immigration & Request for the Permission Applicant Eligibility: D-2 Visa holder with minimum GPA of 2.0 in previous semester Enrolled students - Students doing extra a semesters, or completedresearch student will have limit in working time * New part-time working policy (taking effect on 2018.10.01) will be announced through GSC website 6 Start working 5 Permission from the Immigration
7. Part-Time Work Important Note Part-time work is only allowed after getting the permission from GSC and the immigration office Following the immigration law, working without permission may lead to compulsory eviction 2019.02.01~2019.05.30 2019.01.01~2019.05.30 Considered as illegal Employment 2019.01.19 2019.01.19
8. Your Responsibilities Obtain student visa(d-2) that matches your program Submit your Arrival Report until 2018.09.07 to Graduate School *Make sure you submit the copy of passport and the proof of ARC together as well Keep your ARC valid at ALL times!
