Branch Executive Committee Meeting April 10, 2018 Minutes In Attendance: BEC Officers: Directors: Big SIR Paul Squeri, Little SIR Jim Botto, Secretary Jerry Bellefeuille, Treasurer Eddie Toews, and Assistant Treasurer Frank Taylor. Assistant Secretary Dick Aberle. Rodger Swartz, Steve Heath, Larry Matteson, Serge Peluso. Gene Zanoni, and Rich Rinaldi. Committee Chairmen: Bulletin Steve Huff, RV Travel Eddie Toews, Membership Dale Decker, Internet Jerry Bellefeuille, Pinochle Bob Morrison, Chaplin Steve Gregory, SIR Item Sales Fred Kehr, and RAMP Rex Page, and Propane Marty Martin. Past Big SIRs: Area 5 Governor: Fishing Chuck Simons, Golf Paul Padavana, Car Club Rich Rinaldi, Senior Member Awards Jim Johnson, Photographer Steve Belochi, Media Exchange Sol Robins, and Luncheon Rick Bacon. Dale Decker, Phil VanSwoll, Danny Laureta Not present. Big SIR Paul Squeri called the meeting to order at 10:03 am. Secretary Jerry Bellefeuille informed the board that a quorum was present. 1

Paul Squeri asked if there were any additions, corrections or deletions to the meeting agenda. None were presented. A motion was made by Eddie Toews and seconded by Steve Heath to approve the agenda. The motion was passed by the BEC. Big SIR- Paul said that all members have paid their yearly dues. Paul said that we still have openings for Membership, Activities and Theatre chairmen. Paul passed around one of our promotional shopping bags that we will be giving out at the Home and Garden Show. Paul also announced that Bert Abreo is still the bowling chairman but does not want to travel to State SIR Bowling meetings. Little SIR Jim reported that ticket sales for the Ladies Day Luncheon are going well. Jim reminded everyone that Black Oak Casino has donated a one-night stay with food and gaming credits for our Grand Prize drawing at the luncheon. Jim also went over the other prizes to be given out. Jim also asked for donations for the raffle drawing. Jim also announced the guest speaker for today as John Popke, Master Instructor CA DOJ Instructor Weapons Training School. Attendance/Membership Report- Dale Decker reported that we will be installing 1 new member today, Richard Dentino. Dale also reported that Ray Volpetti has requested inactive status, Bill Bowcutt, Lynn Harvey, Jack Peaslee, Elmer Crnkovich, Ray Oakdale, and Gil Voecks all have resigned. Also inactive member Ken Danz has resigned. A motion was made by Larry Matteson to accept the report and the requested status of Ray Volpetti. The motion was seconded by Jerry Bellefeuille and passed by the BEC. Secretary's Report Secretary Jerry Bellefeuille presented the minutes of the March BEC Meeting for approval. Steve Heath made a motion to approve the February minutes. The motion was seconded by Frank Taylor and was passed by the BEC. Treasurer's Report Treasurer, Eddie Toews presented the March treasurer s report. He reported that we had an ending balance for March of $14,154.79 and $250 cash on hand. A motion to approve the February Treasurer's report was made by Steve Heath and seconded by Jerry Bellefeuille. The motion was passed by the BEC. Form 27 Report- Paul Squeri reported that our active membership stood at 216 after this meeting which is 10 behind our goal. 2

PROGRAM DIRECTOR REPORTS Membership Growth Larry Matteson said that we are enlisting people to man the SIR booth at the Home and Garden Show next month. Member Relations Rich Rinaldi was not at the meeting Activities Open position. Public Relations Steve Heath said that our article made it into the Union Democrat this month but they edited out the luncheon menu. RAMP Chairman- Rex Page said that he is set up to run the booth at the Home and Garden Show. Rex also showed us the banner that will be carried by us in the Mother s Day Parade in May. Bulletin Report Steve Huff said that he would like pictures of the Home and Garden Show and a new Little SIR picture. ACTIVITIES REPORTS Bowling The bowling chairmanship is open. Car Club- Rich Rinaldi was not at the meeting. Chaplain- Steve said that Guy Hoffman s wife has passed away from Alzheimers. Fishing- Chuck Simmons was not at the meeting. Golf - Paul Padavana was not at the meeting Internet - Jerry Bellefeuille said that nothing was new with the website. Media Exchange- Sol Robin reported that we got in new cd s and puzzles. 3

Luncheon Drawing Tom Neiderer and Tom Turner were out selling tickets for today s drawing. Pinochle - Bob Morrison reported that they had an average of 11 players. RV Travel - Eddie Toews reported that the group had a great outing at Jackson Rancheria in March. Eddie presented the list of outings for the RV club for the rest of 2018. A motion was made to approve the list of scheduled events by Paul Squeri, and seconded by Frank Taylor. The list was approved by the BEC and entered into the branch permanent records. SIR Merchandise Fred Kehr said that he sold one cap. Wine Tasting- Phil VanSwoll is planning an event at Inner Sanctum Winery in June. Kayak- Sol reported that we have 4 members who are interested in the group. Sol said that branch 172 has 15 members in its group. Sol said that they would only use small lakes for their activities, no white water events. A motion was made by Eddie Toews and seconded by Steve Heath to sanction the kayak group and its stated activities. The motion was passed by the BEC. Old Business Paul mentioned that we are still waiting for word from Jim Johnson on insurance for joint branch activities and a possible motion to enter into the minutes. Rich Rinaldi said that he went to a joint branch theatre event and all went well. New Business- Jerry Bellefeuille reported on the people with email addresses that receive the bulletin in the mail. Jerry said that we currently have 63 people receiving the bulletin in the mail. Of the 27 members on the list 4 do not get their bulletins in the mail, and 3 members switched to bulletin by email. Jerry sent emails to the remaining 20 members and asked if they would switch to email bulletins, no one replied. Jerry mentioned a few members who are on the list who have email addresses but had no interaction with a computer on a regular basis. It was decided to continue sending bulletins to the members on the list. A motion was made to table the idea of removing these members 4

from the mailing list by Paul Squeri and seconded by Jim Botto. The motion was passed by the BEC. Danny Laureta reported on the 25-year pin idea. Ideas were also brought up about incremental pins and ways that they could be implemented. Danny said that he would research the pins further and report back. Danny Laureta reported that the nominating committee has met and come up with 4 new directors for 2019. They are still looking for a Little SIR. Paul Squeri asked for a motion to cancel the BEC Meeting in May due to the Ladies Day Luncheon. The motion was made by Eddie Toews and seconded by Jerry Bellefeuille and was passed by the BEC.
