Press Release Greece and the Arab World: A New Agenda for Growth The works and deliberations of the 7th Arab-Hellenic Economic Forum were convened at the Divani Caravel Hotel of Athens, on November 27-28 2018, with the participation of 130 Arab businessmen representing 15 Arab countries and, from the Greek side, this forum was attended by 110 executives representing 80 companies. It is worth mentioning that this Forum witnessed, for the first time, the participation of businessmen from Somalia and Djibouti. The opening ceremony began with a welcoming speech by Mr. Harris Geronikolas, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Arab-Hellenic Chamber. The keynote speakers, Mr. Tawfic Said Khoury, Executive Vice-President of Consolidated Contractors Company (CCC), the Strategic Sponsor of this Forum, H.E. Dr. Thamer Al Ani, Director of the Department of Economic Relations of the League of Arab States, H.E. Mr. Mohammad Abdo Saeed, President of the Union of Arab Chambers in Lebanon, H.E. Mr. Marwan Emile Toubassi, Dean of the Council of Ambassadors and Ambassador of the State of Palestine and the guest of honor, Mr. Markos Bolaris, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece, all stressed in their speeches the depth and longevity of historical Greek-Arab relations, calling on businessmen from sides to undertake initiatives and explore business and investment opportunities in Greece and the Arab world, whose prospects remain wide and whose opportunities are limitless. The opening ceremony was followed by the signing of agreements and memoranda of understanding between the Arab and Greek sides. During the first and second sessions, the Forum focused on the shipping and ports services industry, partnership and investment opportunities. In these sessions, a number of specialists and senior officials in shipping companies and ports from the Arab countries and Greece delivered their speeches and presentations, followed by a cocktail reception in honor of the Arab delegations. On the following day, Wednesday 28th November, two working sessions took place on the construction, and infrastructure projects as well as the future of sustainable energy in Greece and the Arab world, demands and resources. In these two sessions, executives from selected companies addressed the audience, followed by questions and answers. The Forum ended with intensive business meetings between Arab businessmen and their Greek counterparts in all business sectors. This Forum is a continuation of the previous ones, which have always enjoyed a significant Arab and Greek attendance, interaction and work meetings among the participants. These forums have become an annual tradition and a trademark in strengthening and expanding the relations of Arab- Greek cooperation in all sectors. The Arab-Hellenic Chamber seizes this opportunity to express its sincere gratitude to the official auspices of this Forum, the League of Arab States, the three Greek Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Economy and Development, and Maritime Affairs and Insular Policies and to the Union of Arab Chambers. Our sincere appreciation is also extended to the special contributors of this event, Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Baghdad Chamber of Commerce, Enterprise Greece, 1

Qatar Chamber, Jordan Chamber of Commerce, Cairo Chamber and Behira Chamber of Commerce. Our appreciation also goes to all the sponsors and supporters among our member companies, and to the specialized entities and organizations that supported this forum.
