Your K of C News Msgr. Lawrence K. Breslin K of C Council 14995 St. Charles Borromeo Kettering, Ohio 45429 Volume 9, Issue 4 APRIL 2018 Supreme Website: www.kofc.org State Website: ww.kofcohio.org 14995 Website: kofc14995.org The next business meeting will be held on Thursday, April 19, 2018, 7:30 PM GRAND KNIGHTS NOTES Brother Knights, Congratulation to Jamie Gehring, Bart Grunenwald, and Greg Helm the newest members of Council 14995. They took their Admission degree on April 11, 2018. Council 14995 celebrated its 8 th Anniversary and Ladies Appreciation on April 14 with a Mass followed by dinner at Walnut Grove Golf Club. We had a great turnout. Special thanks to Jim Gehring for securing Walnut Grove again and thanks to Ed Leschansky for stepping up as MC for the evening. And, of course, thank you to all the Spouses that support our Knights throughout the year. Couldn t do it without their support. Thank you to Mark Nichwitz for another great job with the Super Cash Bonanza ticket sales. Our Council sold 336 tickets to date. Thank you to all those that participated thus far and it is not too late. The final ticket turn in will be May 07, so please get those ticket stubs and checks turned in to Mark ASAP. It looks like our Council will achieved STAR Council again this year. All Program Activities have been completed, membership quotas have been met, and insurance member quotas will be met. Special Olympics Track & Field needs our Council s help again. This event will take place at Centerville High School on April 28, weather permitting. Please volunteer, even if you only have a couple hours available. We will set up SignUp.com for this event. Thanks to all the Families that supported the Lent Simple Soup Suppers and Stations of the Cross during March. These suppers would not be possible without the support of our Council. A new Slate of Officers has been developed and published. However, it is not too late if you want to run for an office. No one would resent a little competition for their position. Go ahead and put your name into the hat. Don t forget the Measure Up Campaign next month at Walmart on May 6-7. Our Council will need your support with collections at the doors on both days. Please volunteer a couple hours of your time on one or both days. We will use SignUp.com to coordinate the volunteers. Vivat Jesus John A. Brown Grand Knight Don t forget to bring your empty ink and toner cartridges to the meetings. We recycle them via Staples and receive $2 for each cartridge. We use this Rewards money to purchase office supplies for the council.

APRIL 2018 Council 14995 Newsletter Page 5 Chief Squire: Tanner Lapp Deputy Chief Squire: Jack Issler Notary: Nick Rodman Bursar: Zach Carlson New Squire Officers for the 2017-2018 Fraternal Year Marshal: Andrew Hornick Sentry: Ben Rodman Arm Captain: Jackson Wright Pole Captain: Jacob Sheidler March 17th we had our annual lock-in in St. Charles School. Squires from St. Leonards (Incarnation), and St. Francis joined us for a really fun and long night. We all went to Mass, had a general meeting with an investiture, did a service project, and ate a lot of food. 7 new Squires signed on. 34 young gentlemen were in attendance! Special thanks to Mr. Issler who paid for 15 pizzas. April 8th we participated in phase 1 of the St. Charles school garden project. Over half the Squires helped build a very large and very robust planter, and assisted people from other groups building their planters and filling them with dirt. This was one of the biggest service projects we ve done. Special thanks to Mr. Coty and Mr. Kovach for their guidance and grit all afternoon long. Another thanks to Mr. Kovach for his donation of the wood. See photos in this newsletter. MARK YOUR CALENDARS!!!! The next City Barbeque fundraiser will be held on Thursday, June?????, 2018. The flyer will be published in the May newsletter and on the website as soon as it is available. The fundraiser that was held on March 22 resulted in a profit of $257 to the council. Please note that City Barbeque has stated the following: If You Are Caught Passing Out Flyers Or Telling People In Line, Your Fundraiser Will Be Null And Void! Thanks to all who support this event.
