Badges It is quite normal for all committee members to be issued with badges denoting their respective positions. These badges can be worn alongside the personal name badges. After the branch AGM, the committee position badges can be handed over to the next office bearer. It is important that at social nights and other events that all committee members can be identified by both branch members and visitors. Ulysses Club Commemorative badges for length of membership and age The details for these badges are in the back of every edition of the Riding On magazine, and members and branches can apply and order these. Significant Birthday/age badges must be paid for, however the years of membership badges are free. Something to consider Committee by Consensus We are aware that some of the formerly large Branches have decreased in numbers and may be struggling to form a formal committee. We d like to encourage those Branches who still want to retain Branch status, to consider becoming a Committee by Consensus, running informally. The Constitution recognises both type of Branch, and the Handbook for Members (v6) offers this guidance... Branch Committees There shall be a Branch Committee of each branch of the Club either formally elected or informal by consensus, that will act in accordance with this Constitution and the direction of the National Committee, and shall conduct the committee meetings at a place agreed by the majority of the committee, and shall conduct the Social Meetings of the branch at a place so designated and approved by the National Committee. Any action or decision or resolution made by a Branch Committee has no standing in relation to the management of the Club. Branch Committee by Consensus Where members decide by consensus a branch is to have an informal committee consisting of a minimum of three members appointed from time to time, there shall be an Annual General Meeting of the branch and Clauses 84, 85 and 86 (a), and (c) (of the Constitution), and where appropriate 86 (b) will apply. ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING OF A BRANCH 84 The Annual General Meeting of a Branch shall be convened to be held on a date not before the 1st January and not later than the 30th June in each year and at such place and time as the Branch Committee may determine. 85 An Annual General Meeting shall be specified as such in the notice convening the meeting. 86 In addition to any other business which may be properly transacted at a Branch Annual General Meeting, the business of an Annual General Meeting shall be: a) to confirm the Minutes of the last preceding Annual General Meeting and of any Special General Meeting held since that meeting; b) receive and consider the statement and report of the financial affairs of the Branch for the financial year ended the previous 31st December; c) to receive from the Committee reports upon the activities of the Branch during the last preceding financial year; d) to elect office-bearers and ordinary members of the Branch Committee. Annual Membership You asked for it and the National Committee is pleased to announce that members can pay for their membership on an annual basis rather than three years up front. This applies to existing members only, not new members. The annual membership renewal fee is $40 and will be available from 1 April 2018 (no, this isn t an April Fools joke ). 5
