YMDRAB Let s talk about diversity! 19-26 August 2012 Velingrad, Bulgaria

ABOUT THE ACTIVITY Summer camp is one of the annual activities organized by MIJARC Europe in order to gather youngsters from all over the Europe and give them a space to live together, explore their social and cultural differences and similarities, exchange ideas, best practices discuss on different topics, have fun and pleasant time all together. This is not the first time MIJARC Europe organises a Summer Camp with the support of the Youth in Action Programme. If you would like to know more about our last Summer Camp you can check it in our Info Europe magazine with small summary and participants testimonials on the following link: http://mijarc.net/sites/default/files/files/2011-03_infoeurope_english_web.pdf This year we have the pleasure to have YMDRAB Bulgaria hosting this activity in the town of Velingrad in the beautiful Rhodope Mountains - one of the biggest multi-ethnic regions in Bulgaria. The title we have chosen for this Summer Camp is: Let s talk about diversity! Through this topic we would like to show the importance, significance and role of the religion in the integration of minorities and to rise awareness about multi-ethnic and religious diversity in rural areas in Europe. The main objectives of this youth exchange are to give you the opportunity: to analyse and exchange the realities in our communities and best practices on the topic; to raise awareness about minorities and to break mutual stereotypes and prejudices; to reflect on your own cultural identity; to develop awareness on concepts such as identity culture and intercultural sensitivity; to raise awareness about differences and similarities in cultural and religious diversity in Europe; to identify ways and to generate ideas to integrate minorities via religions; to identify ways to overcome the mutual exclusion and to increase the involvement of the minorities in the social life in local communities and develop projects, based on an intercultural approach. You don t know what this is all about?!? Don t be scared! The whole activity is based on non-formal and informal methods such as energizers, icebreakers, filed visits, discussions, exchange of realities and best practices, presentations and workshops led by very nice and well prepared team. This sharing of realities and best practices during presentations, discussions and debates as well as during free-time will create a common base of understanding of different cultures. The participants will create their own opportunities for being more participative, active and proficient by learning from each other and sharing new ideas.
