May 14, 2015 Board Meeting N E W S L E T T E R M I N U T E S The board convened at 5:30 p.m. Present were Richard Gibson, president; Leslie LaMarche, first vice president; and Debra Capps, treasurer. Mark Shoffner, secretary, joined the meeting at 5:50 p.m. Also attending were Crystal Keeton, on-site manager; Cliff Abel, maintenance superintendent; Dudley Leonard, cooperative attorney; and Connie Mayer and Mike Lauer, regional managers with Tailor Made Property Service, Inc. New Member Orientation One new member participated in orientation at 6:30 p.m. Board members reviewed Colonial Square rules and regulations and expectations for cooperative living and membership. The orientation ended at 6:50 p.m. Open Session Attending the open session were Darrin Lowery, Kathleen Morrison, Rene Love, Evelyn Childers and Steve Jones with Metro Public Safety. Richard welcomed them at 7 p.m. and all present observed a moment of silence. Crystal reported for the Pet Committee: no violations. In the monthly office report for April, Crystal reported two move-ins, 14 statements of charges due and a car stolen in Tract A. Three units have been sold; four cooperative-owned and five member units are available; and one unit has a subscription agreement signed. Page 11
Beef Brisket with Cola Ingredients: 3/4 cup cola 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce 1 tablespoon vinegar 2 cloves garlic, minced 1 teaspoon beef bouillon granules 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard 1 teaspoon chili powder 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper, ground 2 medium onions, chopped 1 1/2 pound beef roast or brisket piece 1/2 cup ketchup 2 tablespoons margarine or butter Directions: For meat: Mix all ingredients up to and including cayenne pepper. Reserve 1/2 cup for sauce. Cut meat to fit crock pot. Place onions in crock pot and meat on top of onions. Pour remaining liquid over meat. Cover and cook 10-12 hours on low, 5-6 hours on high. Cliff gave the House and Grounds and Maintenance Superintendent reports for April. In Tract A, six units were tagged and five have complied. In Tract B, three units were tagged and all have complied. There were six parking violations in Tract A and three in Tract B. There were 199 work orders completed. Two move-ins are scheduled. Cliff is getting bids for B Tract street lighting. Debra reported for the Activities Committee. The picnic is being planned for mid-september. Steve Jones reported for security. There have been a few disturbances between neighbors. Richard opened the floor to member comments. The open session ended at 7:30 p.m. Closed Session Dudley reviewed the attorney status report. Dudley, Crystal and Cliff were allowed to leave at 8:05 p.m. For sauce: Combine 1/2 cup reserved liquid, ketchup and margarine in saucepan. Heat. Set aside. Shred cooked meat. Serve on buns or tortillas. Page 3

ATTENTION MEMBERS: The Annual Board of Directors Meeting will be held on June 11, 2015 at 7 PM. Policy and Procedures for Candidates Running for the Board of Directors 1. Members running for the Board of Directors who wish to have their resume in the Town Crier must file it with the on-site manager by May 20, 2015. Resumes must be camera ready (printed or typed on white paper). 2. Candidates may campaign in any manner they choose, i.e., door to door, fliers, etc. 3. Campaigning is not allowed in the clubroom building the evening of the Annual Meeting. All candidates will be allowed to address the membership during the Annual Meeting prior to the election. 4. The on-site staff shall not prepare or copy campaign literature for candidates. 5. Resumes must be received by June 1, 2015 in order for the candidate s name to appear on the ballot. 6. All who vote at the annual meeting whether in person, by proxy, or by absentee ballot are eligible for the door prize drawing. Attention Members The Annual Board of Directors Meeting is June 11, 2015 at 7pm. Absentee Voting begins June 8th and runs through June 11th at 5pm. Please plan to attend.
