BE IT REMEMBERED that the Board of Directors met in the Clubhouse, Hide-A-Way Lake, Pearl River County, Mississippi, on the 13 th day of May and the following proceedings were had and done. The regular monthly meeting was called to order by President, Ron Scheuermann. The Chair entertained a motion to waive the reading of the Minutes of the Board meeting of April 8, 2015. Tom Gibilterra acknowledged the motion, Clark B. Theriot, Sr. seconded the motion. Unanimously approved. The Chair entertained a motion to approve the Minutes of the Board meeting of April 8, 2015. Elizabeth Ennis acknowledged the motion, Jim Wells seconded the motion. Unanimously approved. MANAGER S REPORT Bruce Devillier 1. The pump tests for both well #2 and well #3 were performed by Grinder Drilling on May 5 th. The final results are expected to be in by the next board meeting. 2. On May 12 th, the pressure tanks for both well #2 and well #3 were inspected as well as washed out. A final inspection report will be available by the next board meeting. 3. Kent Whitfield s CPA firm has completed the Public Service Commission Annual Report for our water system. 4. The capital expenditure of purchasing a new 2014 truck to replace the 1998 truck has been completed. A resolution is forthcoming. 5. The drain to the lake, located at 1704 East Lakeshore Drive, will receive a new drain grate cover. This work will be done by Smith Enterprises. The total cost of this capital expenditure was $2,463. 6. The new (gold) boat and golf cart decals are now on sale. The green boat and golf cart decals will expire on May 31 st. Please note, any boat in the water with an expired decal after May 31 st will be fined no warnings will be given. This includes boats in HAWL boat slips as well as those docked at private residences. The HAWL office will be open on Saturdays from 9:00 am 12:00 pm, from May 2 nd through August 29 th. Page 1 of 6
7. Per the request of our Lake Quality Committee, the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks performed a survey on the fish in our lake on April 21, 2015. According to the results of the survey, it is recommended that as many fish as possible are removed from the lake in order to ensure that the remaining fish are able to grow to larger sizes. The information from this report will be available in the upcoming Echoes in an article titled Catch Em and Keep Em. 8. Two brick planters will be installed in front of the HAWL Lodge. This work will be done by Heritage Homes and will be funded by donations from the HAWL Garden Club. 9. Progressive Waste Solutions rate has increased by 1.9% based upon the Consumer Price Index. This is a 21 increase which makes the monthly garbage fee $10.58 per property owner. 10. The 2014 Drinking Water Quality Report ( CCR ) is available on our website and copies are available at the HAWL office. 11. A Meet the Candidate session is scheduled to be held at the July 8 th board meeting. 12. The pool is now open for "Resident Swim" from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm Tuesday through Friday until May 22 nd. On May 23 rd, the pool will open with lifeguards. The summer hours will be Tuesday through Friday from 11:00 am - 8:00 pm, Saturdays from 11:00 am 9:00 pm, and Sundays from 11:00 am 8:00 pm. 13. The following is a report of our delinquent accounts: 44 accounts are in the process of being worked in-house $ 6,874.11 4 accounts have received judgments and/or being worked by an attorney $12,682.24 Total $19,556.35 124 accounts were assessed the $15.00 late fee in April, 2015. Security Safety, Fire Committee & Boat Sub-Committee Tom Gibilterra Security is now performing checks on properties that are vacant for long terms. These include properties where the owners are not local, foreclosures, or vacant and for sale. These inspections are in addition to vacation checks. If you have a property that you want Security to visit either when you are on vacation or if the property is vacant for a long time, please contact the office. The committee discussed safety around the east and west playgrounds. There are some ideas that may be considered to be done. Lake Quality Danny Stockstill Water samples were collected from four locations on May 4, 2015. All samples tested below the Mississippi standard level for recreational waters. An assessment of fish populations in our lake was completed by the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks Management on April 21, 2015. The primary recommendation was to reduce the overall number of fish to improve the health, size, and quality of our basic fish stocks. Our HAWL Fishing Rodeo was held April 18, 2015. Fourteen prizes were awarded to fishing participants. Although fishing conditions were not ideal, families and friends enjoyed smoked pork sandwiches, drinks, and a day on our beautiful lake. Weather data for April was not available for this report. The Lake Quality Committee is preparing to spray troublesome vegetation in our lake. Residents are encouraged to notify the lodge of weed problems observed in their vicinity. Page 3 of 6
Long Range Planning Ron Scheuermann No report given. Social Committee Robin Montalbano The next Brunch, Bingo, and Boutique is scheduled for June 10 th. This is a wonderful opportunity to spend the afternoon with friends while enjoying a delicious lunch and shopping. Those who would like to attend or sign-up as a vendor can do so by calling the office at 601-798-1484. In addition to the upcoming Brunch, Bingo, and Boutique, the Social Committee has several other events planned for 2015. Events for this year include but are not limited to: a free snowball day on May 23 rd, a Recycling Drive on August 1 st, the Deck Party on August 1 st, the HAWL Flea Market on October 3 rd, the Brunch, Bingo, and Boutique on October 7 th, the Halloween Party on October 24 th, a Recycling Drive on November 7 th, the Art Show and Reception on November 14 th and 15 th, the Breakfast Buffet/Santa s Workshop and HAWL s Christmas Shop on December 5 th, and the New Year s Eve Party on December 31 st. Public Affairs Clark B. Theriot, Sr. The Memorial Tree Committee would like to thank Bertha Page Croll and Norman Weinstein for plotting all of the memorial trees in the west playground. In the near future, plotting will be on display at the Lodge in order to clarify where donations can be used as well as the needs of the Memorial Tree Committee.
