4 This weekend the FAYETTEVILLE FREE LIBRARY (FFL) FIRST Tech Team competed in the State Championships at Utica Poly. The FFL team consists of 12 members in grades 7-12. Similar to the FFL First Lego League (FLL) the FIRST Tech team is challenged to design and build robots to compete against other teams. The FFL adult coaches; Mike Cimino and Margaret Portier guide students through the process while developing STEM skills. Since 2015, the Fayetteville Free Library (FFL) has entered a team in the FIRST Tech challenge. This year, Fayetteville Free Library is proud to announce their First Tech Team advanced to the State Championship where they competed against 24 other state qualifying teams. The FFL Team did exceptionally well but were not among the three teams from NYS that advanced to the National Championships. The FFL was the first public library in NYS to sponsor a First Lego League (FLL). Building on the success of the FLL and requests from the community, the FFL created a FIRST Tech Team. In fact, this year FLL team achieved their highest score in the regional championship.
