July 24, 2017 Parliament bids farewell to outgoing President Pranab Mukherjee President Pranab Mukherjee has said that Parliament stands for debate, discussion and dissent adding that disruption hurts opposition more than the government. He said, disruption denies the opportunity to opposition to raise the concern of the people.in his farewell address at Central Hall of Parliament on Sunday evening, Mr Mukherjee said, voice of each Member of Parliament is important and it is unfortunate that the Parliamentary time devoted to legislation has been declining.stressing the need for scrutiny and adequate discussion before passage of any legislation, he said, when Parliament fails to discharge its law making role or enacts laws without discussion, it breaches the trust reposed in it by the people. India, Bangladesh sign pact to connect both countries by waterways India and Bangladesh have signed a pact to connect both the countries by waterways. The waterways will facilitate movement of passengers and goods between India's northeast and West Bengal with Bangladesh. Union Minister of State for Road Transport, Highways and Shipping Mansukh Mandaviya said in Agartala that infrastructure for the services would be set up along the major rivers in Bangladesh, West Bengal and Brahmaputra in Assam. The first ever radio broadcast in the country went on the air from the Bombay Station on July 23, 1927 under a private company, the Indian Broadcasting Company."In the last 90 years Radio broadcast in the country has achieved several milestones. On 8th of June, 1936, the Indian State Broadcasting Service became All India Radio. All India Radio has been serving to inform, educate and entertain the masses since it's inception. It has the distinction of being one of the major broadcasting organizations in the world and its News Services Division disseminates news and comments to listeners in India and abroad. AIR originates programming in 23 languages and 146 dialects. AIR s home service comprises 420 stations today located across the country, reaching nearly 92 per cent of the country s area and above 99 per cent of the total population. International Meet on Social Justice in Bangalore To mark the 126th birth anniversary of Dr.B.R.Ambedkar, the Karnataka Government announced that an international conference on Social Justice is being held in Banglore from the 21st to 23rd July 2017.The theme of the conference is Reclaiming Social Justice, Revisiting Ambedkar. UP Govt launches free power connection scheme for BPL families On the 23rd July 2017, the UP Govt launched the free power connection scheme for families with BPL cards, at 624 places across the State. For people without BPL cards, power will be available by paying Rs 80 to Rs 120 for getting power connection. Installment payment facility will also be available to the middle class families in the State. US lawmakers reach deal on sanctions bill for Russia, Iran & N Korea US Republicans and Democrats have agreed on a bill that allows new sanctions against Russia, Iran and North Korea. Under the legislation, President Trump must submit to Congress a report on proposed actions that would significantly alter US foreign policy in connection with Russia. It also aims to prevent him from relaxing sanctions without lawmakers' consent. The bill will be considered on the 25th July under an expedited process that requires a two-thirds majority for passage. This means the bill will pass with a veto-proof majority. US Report says that India is the third largest terror target According to a report published by the National Commission on Terrorism and Response to Terrorism of the United States and the data published by them, India is the third largest terror target in the world after Iraq and Afganisthan.Out of the 11,072 terror attacks in the world in 2016, 972 occurred in India. President Donald Trump was present on the occasion.the ship has been built by the Newport New Shipping Company and displaces 100,000 tonnes fully loaded and is 1106 feet long. It is powered by two nuclear reactors. It cost $ 12.8 billion to build. Indian CEOs earn up to 1,200 times of average staff A huge pay gap between CEOs and other employees at Indian companies has come to the fore, with the biggest listed blue chip firms doling out to their top executives salary packages of up to 1,200 times of their median employee remunerations.an analysis of remuneration disclosures made by top listed companies forming part of the blue chip index Sensex under directions of the capital markets regulator Sebi shows that the pay packages of senior most personnel such as CEOs and executive chairmen continue to remain high and rose further at most private sector firms during 2016 17.On the contrary, the median employee remuneration fell or remained almost same during the last fiscal, while the ratio of the top executive s pay to the median employee remuneration remained at astronomically high levels of hundreds times in many cases.the public sector companies show a totally different picture with their chiefs getting salaries of just about 3 4 times of their median employee remunerations. www.talentsprint.com 4

Castor plant can reduce soil pollution: Study According to study conducted by researchers from University of Hyderabad, Castor bean plants can prove useful in fighting soil pollution. It was found that these plants can absorb toxic heavy metals from soil from these polluted areas due to industrial pollution. The roots, leaves and stem of these plants from the polluted areas contain heavy metals such as lead.it was also observed that these plants accelerate the remediation of polluted soils due to presence of some chemicals in them known as chelators which enhances the capability of the plant to accumulate heavy metals. England beats India to win the ICC Women s World Cup On the 23rd July 2017, Indian women lost to England by a narrow margin of nine runs in the ICC Women's World Cup final at Lord's. Chasing a target of 229, the Indian middleorder collapsed like a pack of cards, being bowled out for 219 in 48.4 overs. The last seven wickets fell for a mere 28 runs in 6.5 overs. At one stage, India were well placed at 191 for 3. Mission Football launched in Meghalaya The Chief Minister of Meghalaya launched the State s Mission Football in the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Shillong on the 23rd July 2017.Under this scheme, the state government will spend Rs 560 Cr over the next five years to develop football in the state. The amount will be spent in the development of the game in all the 11 districts of the state. About 1400 playgrounds will be developed in all the districts. The focus of the mission will be to develop sports parks and football entertainment parks. India end campaign with five medals in World Para Athletics India ended their World Para Athletics Championship campaign with five medals in London on Sunday. The tally included a gold, two silver and two bronze medals. The lone Gold came through Sundar Gurjar in men's javelin throw F-46 event. Overall, India finished outside top-30 in the medal standings.
