These can be from a division, a club, or and individual, but should represent the area from which it comes. Gov. John Kyle CALL TO THE 2015 DISTRICT CONVENTION Dear West Virginia Kiwanian! You are hereby invited to attend the 2016 West Virginia District Kiwanis Convention, hosted by Divisions 7, August 12-14, 2016, at the Tamarac near Beckley, WV. For those Kiwanians attending with their spouse or a guest, the full Convention registration fee is $40 for both. If you are attending as an individual the full Convention registration fee is $30. If you are only attending the Saturday sessions and the House of Delegates the registration fee is $20. (See pg. 2 for full details.) Events of Importance The thrust of the Convention is to further develop the future of the WV District through continued growth. Last year s convention fleshed out the The Formula for growth. This year we will look at the I-Plan, how it further develops The Formula and its importance in growing the District Additionally, we will have training for incoming officers, District updates, sessions on how to publicize your club, what is necessary to protect our youth and adults, and what is necessary to insure that we do not put our club and our members at risk. We will have a legislative session where we will elect our officers for the 2016-17 Administrative year. As of today, we do not have any Bylaw changes or additions. We will close out our Convention with a Memorial session Sunday morning and the formal retirement and installation of our new board of trustees. 1

WV DCON 2016 fee schedule August 12-14 Tamarac (Beckley, WV) The final arrangements for DCON at the Tamarac have been made. What is different this year is that you will be making your own hotel arrangements at any of the local hotels. HOTEL INFORMATION FOR TAMARACK CONVENTION There are at least NINE hotels along Harper Road, exit 44 off the WV Turnpike. (Tamarack is off exit 45. ) There is a "back road", so you won't have get on the highway again to get between the hotels and the conference center. The prices for the hotels range from $48 to $144 per night + tax (as of April 30, online). If you have Internet service, your best price will probably be found online. Just type in "hotels near Tamarack, Beckley, WV" and make your choice. Registration for Kiwanian and spouse/guest is $40 for Friday-Sunday. Registration for Kiwanian and spouse/guest is $35 for Saturday and Sunday. Registration for a Kiwanian for all three days is $30. District Certification Form for Club Representation August 12-14, 2016, Tamarac Article VIII Section 6, conventions Each charted club in good standing in the District shall be entitlesd, at an convention, to three (3) delegates, two of whom shall be the president and president-elect. Each chartered club at the time of the selection of delegates for the convention may choose one (1) alternate for each delegate, including the president and president-elect. A chartered club in good standing may, in the event of having no member to serve as their delegate to a District convention, select and certify one currently active Past Lieutenant Governor from another club within their division to serve as their delegate to said convention. Please observe these time constraints. Divisions should be prepared to confirm and appoint Lieutenant Governors-Designate for the 2016-2017 (if no one has been selected to date) and elect candidates for the office of Lieutenant Governor-elect for the 2017-2018 year. Lieutenant Governors need to be elected at least one year in advance so that proper training can be provided. Candidates need to be reported to the District Secretary by June 1 of the year of their election. 4

Our Foundations need your support! We have two Foundations within the West Virginia Kiwanis District. Both Foundations provide scholarships and support for local clubs and individuals ALL FUNDS STAY WITHIN THE WEST VIRGINIA DISTRICT. One you have heard about repeatedly throughout the years is the West Virginia Kiwanis Foundation. The other is the West Virginia Key Club Foundation. Both should be included in your charitable donation schedule each year. Certificates of Appreciation will be given to acknowledge club and individual donations to these two foundations. Any donation received by August 11, 2016 will be recognized at the Convention.
