August 14, 2018 Seward County Board of Equalization A regular meeting of the Seward County Board of Equalization was convened in open and public session at 8:30 a.m. on August 14, 2018 in the Commissioner s room at the Seward County Courthouse. Notice of the meeting was posted on the Courthouse bulletin board and on the Commissioner s Room door. The agenda for all meetings is kept continually current and is available for public inspection at the County Clerk s Office during normal business hours. The agenda is held open until one business day prior to the meeting for appearance before the Board. The Board of Equalization has the right to modify the agenda to include items of an emergency nature only at such public meeting. The Seward County Board of Equalization convened on August 14, 2018 at 8:30 a.m. Present: Chairperson: Whitney Fleischman Members: John Culver, Eugene Gausman, Roger E. Glawatz County Clerk: Sherry Schweitzer County Assessor: Marilyn Hladky Absent: Member: Diana Garske The Chairperson noted that the public meeting information is posted as required by law and available for public distribution if requested. The Pledge of Allegiance was recited. Moved by Glawatz and seconded by Culver to approve the minutes of July 24, 2018. Affirmative Vote: Glawatz, Culver, Fleischman Abstain: Gausman as he was not in attendance at said meeting Motion Carried Moved by Glawatz and seconded by Culver to approve Tax List Correction 160-17P. Moved by Fleischman and seconded by Gausman to approve the claims as follows: SALARIES SA 3517.18 AMERITAS LIFE INSURANCE CORPORATION FE 144.35 JONES NATIONAL BANK TRUST COMPANY FE 231.83 Affirmative Vote: Fleischman, Gausman, Garske, Culver, Glawatz Motion Carried Commissioners Reports: Commissioner Culver reported he met with the Road Dept. personnel, checked on roads and dealt with various correspondences. Commissioner Fleischman reported she spent time at the County Fair and spoke briefly at the County Livestock Friendly presentation, received information from the State in regard to the Floodplain, and dealt with various emails. She also reported she is leaving for Washington DC tomorrow with a Nebraska Association of County Officials group. Commissioner Gausman reported he checked on some roads and dealt with various correspondences. Commissioner Garske reported she worked on the budget, attended the Livestock Friendly presentation at the County Fair, and dealt with various correspondences.

Commissioner Glawatz reported he gave information about SENDD to the other Commissioners, met with Road Dept. personnel, went to a Concordia event and a Chamber event the past week. At the Seward County Fair, he attended the Livestock Friendly presentation, the Black Hawk Concert and also worked the Visitor booth. Moved by Fleischman and seconded by Gausman to accept the letter of resignation of Tina Marroquin, Public Defender effective August 31, 2018. Affirmative Vote: Fleischman, Gausman, Culver, Garske, Glawatz Motion Carried Moved by Garske and seconded by Fleischman to authorize the Chairman to sign a contract with Election Systems and Software to provide election services for the County Clerk. Affirmative Vote: Garske, Fleischman, Culver, Gausman, Glawatz Motion Carried Moved by Fleischman and seconded by Gausman to accept the Clerk of the District Court Fee Report for July 2018 in the amount of $4,891.83. Affirmative Vote: Fleischman, Gausman, Garske, Culver, Glawatz Motion Carried Moved by Fleischman and seconded by Culver to accept the Sheriff Fee and Mileage Report for June 2018 in the amount of $1,533.50 and $1,056.26 respectively. Moved by Fleischman and seconded by Gausman to approve the Special Designated Liquor License for Miretta Vineyards & Winery, Inc. for an event on Sept. 15, 2018. Affirmative Vote: Fleischman, Gausman, Culver, Garske, Glawatz Motion Carried CJ Johnson of Region V Systems was present to give the annual report of his organization and request a contribution for the next fiscal year. Dave Merrill and Tammy Hendrix of Region V Services were present to give the annual report of their organization and request a contribution for the next fiscal year. Kim Payne, Office Manager for the Road Dept. brought several right of way requests for the Commissioners consideration. Jones Farms in the SE ¼ of Section 21 Township 11 North, Range 2 East of the 6th Rex Briggs Trust in the NE ¼ of Section 36 Township 11 North, Range 2 East of the 6th O & R Land in the NW ¼ of Section 8 Township 10 North, Range 3 East of the 6th Philip Bader in the NE ¼ of Section 25 Township 12 North, Range 2 East of the 6th License for JUNTO LCC for an event on Sept. 1, 2018.

He will stop in personally this next week to see how things are coming with the extension of the Commissioners table. Todd and Melissa Grantski were present to discuss the Big Blue Mile Shootout which will be held next year on June 1, 2019. Their request asks to close a road for the event. They explained the event and their plans for the future. Moved by Garske and seconded by Fleischman to give permission to close 462 nd Road from A Street Road to Old Cheney for the Big Blue Mile Shootout on June 1, 2018. Affirmative Vote: Garske, Fleischman, Gausman, Culver, Glawatz Motion Carried The Commissioners discussed the Miscellaneous Districts Levy Authority in Seward County. After some discussion it was decided that representatives of the Seward County Fire District would be asked to come and share information about their request. The Commissioners recessed at 10:15 a.m. The Commissioners re-convened at 10:20 a.m. The Commissioners discussed the budget.
