Responsible for developing research programming, policy engagement, and communications. Current initiatives Post-2015 Data Test (2013 present): Co-lead on a multi-donor, multi-partner global initiative in partnership with the Centre for Policy Dialogue. Supported the conceptualization, fundraising and implementation of the initiative, including the development of communications and outreach strategy. Funded by the International Development Research Centre s Think Tank Initiative, the Hewlett Foundation and the United Nations Foundation, the project includes think tank and university partners in seven countries. Key outputs include a global synthesis report, seven country studies, web and media presence, and strategic engagement with policymakers at the global and national level. Investing in the Business of Development (2012 present): Lead researcher on NSI s work related to aid and the private sector, which looks at the increasing role of the private sector as a development actor, and how providers of official development assistance seek to work with the private sector. Responsible for conceptualization, fundraising, partnership development, strategic outreach and policy engagement, and knowledge dissemination. Core outputs include several major research reports, a series of synthesized research outputs, and policy engagement through events in Canada and abroad. Past initiatives Multilateral Development Cooperation Initiative (2010 2013): Co-led the development of a series of work carried out by NSI on the role of multilateral development cooperation in the context of a changing international context. Responsible for supporting conceptualization, fundraising, implementation and communications associated with the initiative. Served as the lead organizer of a major conference in 2011, funded by the Canadian International Development Agency and the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, which brought together over 200 international and domestic stakeholders. Contributor to and co-editor of the 2011 edition of NSI s
flagship publication, the Canadian Development Report: Global Challenges, Multilateral Solutions as well as a peer reviewed edited volume based on presentations from the 2011 conference on multilateral development cooperation. Trade-related Private Sector Partnerships for Development (2012 2013): Lead researcher on initiative aimed at identifying best practices in trade-related private sector partnership for development. Conducted in partnership with the Trade Facilitation Office of Canada and the Canadian International Development Agency (funder), the initiative included a high level symposium with domestic and international participation by stakeholders from the private sector, civil society and government. Publications included a major research report as well as policy briefs. Canadian Development Cooperation (2012 2013): Lead a number of research projects examining Canada s development cooperation agenda, including efforts to increase policy coherence for development and engage the private sector. Responsible for conceptualizing, implementing and carrying out communications and outreach activities related to the projects. Outputs include a two research reports, a series of synthesized research outputs, a number of opinion pieces and strategic policy engagement with Canadian stakeholders. Corporate activities Representative, Civil Society Advisory Group, United Nations Development Cooperation Forum (UN DCF) (2011 present): The advisory group is responsible for providing feedback to the UN DCF on their plans and operations, as well as their research activities. Chair, Halifax Initiative Coordinating Committee (2011- present): The Halifax Initiative is a coalition of Canadian development, environment, faith-based, human rights and labour groups which provides research and policy recommendations on issues relating to international and domestic finance institutions. The Coordinating Committee is responsible for overall coordination of the coalition and actively involved in coalition decision-making processes. Responsibilities include contributing to position statements, work plans and campaign strategies as well as overseeing budgets, personnel matters, funding submissions and financial reporting. As the Chair, I am responsible for managing personal issues, providing Junior Researcher, Economic Analysis Division, Canadian International Development Agency, Gatineau, Canada, 2009 2010 Provided research support to Senior Policy Analysts on a variety of issues including Canada s trade and development programming.
