Group Work-Country review Which organizations organize workers in Your Country? one union named Nepal Independent Domestic Work in Nepal. DWRN (Domestic Worker network is major network secretariat by BILS (Bangladesh Institution of Labour Studies). It has 32 organization. As an active member of Domestic workers Right Network (DWRN), BJSD, NDWWU are implicating all of its planned activities and we have also owned planned programe. Hindu MKafzdur Shava (HMS) Indian National Tread Union Congress (INTUC) Self Employed Women Association (SEWA)

Estimate of DW: 1,62,302 DW in Nepal 1500 member in tread union. More then 20,00,000 DW. Members in different associations are around 10,000 Domestic Workers are more then 6 million. Total member- more then 1 lac.

Initiative taken by Government: No Initiative drafted a Domestic Workers Protection and Welfare Policy-2010 by the Bangladesh Government under influence of DWRN networking organizations to protect their rights. Govt. of India evolved policy for DW in the contest of regulatery mechanism and providing social security in 2011 Test force had submitted it s final report along with the draft of national policy on DW. The ministry of labour and employment, through DGE & T has been taking a number of initiative to meet the challenge of providing skills to the workforce of India. For example Skill Development Initiative which combines the development and provision of short term training courses.

Initiative taken by Trade union and organizations: 1 seminar organized on 30/09/2011 for rectification of ILO Memorandam given to Hon ble Priminister on 1 st May 2011 Signature campaign including 2,500 domestic workers and members Formulation of Women organization of Nepali Domestic Workers in 2012. Orzanized serioes of mittings, rellay, workshop, human chain, Letter campaign. Convention 189 of the ILO has no rectification by the Govt. but, the organizations of DWRN (e.g. BJSD) network are having advocacy to pursue it HM is working for DW since 1995 Organizre 2 days ILO work shops named stategis to eliminate child lebor amongst domestic workers on 4 th and 5 th May, 2011. 12X12 campaign on the ractification of ILO convention 189 on 15the June 11. A conference of DW organized by Molkara Ghoralu Ramgar Shava (Maharashtro) on 16 th Sep,12. 2 days Nation Workshop of trade union women community on decent work for domesstic workers on 29 th and 30 th march 12 at New Delhi. Organize series of meetings of awareneness programe andd workshop all over India.

Main challenges: No constitution in Nepal for betterment of DW Political situation is not good in Nepal. Govt. does not recognize and registered them. Govt. has recently passed the build against women DW going abroad under 30 years. Tread union raising awareness about it. Domestic workers are restricted to recognize as worker by the section 1(4)(Naw) of the Bangladesh Labor Law - 2006. Illiteracy and no understanding about legal rights. Misbehaving by employers Employers reduce wages if they join meeting called by the Organization. Proper monitoring and placement of agencies which are exploting DW. No proper implementation of migration work Illiteracy, Social harassment, working and leaving conditions. Most of the workers are unskilled.
