RCDC Board Meeting September 6, 2017 Staff Report Chris Robles, CEO 774 5421 Item III-b (Action): 2017 Greater Sacramento Second Annual Dinner: Request for Sponsorship RECOMMENDATION The RCDC staff recommends that the Board review and approve a $5,000 sponsorship for the 2017Greater Sacramento Second Annual Dinner. BACKGROUND The Greater Sacramento Economic Council requests that the RCDC Advantage Roseville sponsor the 2017 Second Annual Dinner event. The Event is scheduled for Thursday, December 7, 2017 at the Hyatt Regency in Sacramento, see Attachment 1. This Event will engage the key leaders from private businesses, local investors, and local and state governments within the six county region who are driving the growth of Greater Sacramento s economy. DISCUSSION The Greater Sacramento Economic Council is a public private partnership and a catalyst for innovative growth strategies in the Capital Region of California. The organization spearheads community-led direction to retain, attract, grow and scale new businesses, develop advanced industries and create jobs and investment throughout a six-county region. Greater Sacramento represents a collaboration between the Sacramento Region that was founded on discovery, built on leadership, and fueled by innovation. The Second Annual Dinner is their largest event that will host more than 700 guests including market leaders, influencers and stakeholders and local and state governments whose sole mission is driving the economic growth of our six county region. Advantage Roseville s partnership and participation with Greater Sacramento is key to our success in growing jobs and capital investment in the Roseville community. Our participation and support shows strength in our community and raises awareness to our business community and takes us to a new level of growth and competitiveness within California and beyond. Staff recommends approval of the Gold Level Sponsorship level of $5,000. The Gold level sponsorship will receive special media recognition, logo on event flyers, invitations, programs, event screens, and one table (10 seats). Event seating will be made available to the Roseville Community Development Corporation and Advantage Roseville members. Given that the City of Roseville is recognized as a regional leader we believe that a Gold Level Sponsorship is appropriate. Over the past four years Advantage Roseville has typically underspent in sponsorships. For the fiscal year FY2017-2018, the Board approved an AR Sponsorship budget of $20,000. To date, Advantage Roseville has approved sponsorships (approved and tentative) for $9,000 (CA World Trade Center International Business seminar, SBDC Small Business Seminars, Northern CA Meet the Consultants, Chamber s Roseville 2018, and 2017 APA Conference). To date, there is approximately $11,000 unallocated in AR sponsorship budget and available to support this request. This sponsorship request is consistent with the RCDC goals of providing and promoting activities that create economic prosperity and business opportunities for businesses within Roseville. Per the RCDC 3.06 Sponsorship Policy, sponsorship requests greater than $1,000 are required to be brought to the RCDC Board for review and approval, and therefore we are here today requesting support of this request.
