MINUTES REGULAR MEETING OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT #413 Monday, October 20, 2008 (5:30 PM) 3995 The Board of Education of Independent School District #413, Marshall Public Schools met for their regular meeting on Monday, October 20, 2008 in the Professional Development Room of the District Administration Office. Vice-Chairman Booke called the meeting to order at 5:32 p.m. and the roll call showed all members present except Chapman. Also in attendance were: Superintendent Willert, Director of Business Services Lamprecht, Director of CILS Schultz, Director of Activities Remme and Principal Jones. Others attending are listed on the sign in sheet attached to this document. Willert introduced special visitors doctoral graduate students from the University in Thailand. Member (Deann Reese) Moved, Member (Bill Mulso) seconded to approve the agenda for the October 20, 2008 meeting as presented. Upon a roll call vote being taken, the vote was: Aye: 5 Nay: 0. Candidate Al Kruse stated he was a product of public education, and believes in equal opportunity in funding for schools regardless of their location. We know that education costs money, and need to find ways to fund

it, he stated. Questions and discussion were held. Representative Seifert stated he was skeptic of MN Miracle concept. As these are tough budget times, he doesn t feel that the Constitution should be modified into a budgeting document. Discussion and questions were held. Director of CILS Schultz reviewed information on the AYP plan for the District. As part of her presentation, discussion and questions were entertained. Member (Deann Reese) Moved, Member (Matt Coleman) seconded that the Board approves the site improvement plan goals for 2008-2009 as presented. Upon a roll call vote being taken, the vote was: Aye: 5 Nay: 0. The motion CARRIED. 5 0 Member (Bill Mulso) Moved, Member (Tim Swenson) seconded that the Board adopts the 2008-2009 Revised Revenue/Expenditure Budget as attached. Upon a roll call vote being taken, the vote was: Aye: 5 Nay: 0. The motion CARRIED. 5 0 Member (Mike Booke) Moved, Member (Deann Reese) seconded that the Board approves the District/West Side AYP reports as presented and attached and authorizes administration to submit to the MN Department of Education. Upon a roll call vote being taken, the vote was: Aye: 5 Nay: 0. The motion CARRIED. 5-0 Member (Deann Reese) Moved, Member (Bill Mulso) seconded to set Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at 3:30 p.m. to canvass the results of the General Election.
