Sol : D EASE OF DOING BUSINESS INDEX Ease of doing business is an index published by the World Bank. It is an aggregate figure that includes different parameters which define the ease of doing business in a country. It was started by Simeon Djankov and elaborated by the World Bank Group since 2003 every year that is aimed to measure the costs to firms of business regulations in 190 countries. It is computed by aggregating the distance to frontier scores of different economies. The distance to frontier score uses the regulatory best practices for doing business as the parameter and benchmark economies according to that parameter. For each of the indicators that form a part of the statistic Ease of doing business, a distance to frontier score is computed and all the scores are aggregated. The aggregated score becomes the Ease of doing business index.

The World Bank s rankings are based on the country s performance in following areas: 1) Starting a business. 2) Dealing with construction permits. 3) Getting electricity 4) Registering property. 5) Getting credit. 6) Protecting minority investors. 7) Paying taxes. 8) Trading across borders. 9) Enforcing contracts; and 10) Resolving insolvency.

EASE OF DOING BUSINESS RANKING OF STATES OF INDIA Ease of doing business ranking of states of India is the annual ease of doing business index of states and union territories of India based on the completion percentage scores of action items points of annual Business Reforms Action Plan (BRAP) under the make in India initiative The BRAP includes 405 recommendations for reforms on regulatory processes, policies, practices and procedures spread across 12 reform areas, that is, labour regulation enablers; contract enforcement; registering property; inspection reform enablers; single window system; land availability and allotment; construction permit enablers; environmental registration enablers; obtaining utility permits; paying taxes; access to information and transparency enablers and sector specific reforms spanning the lifecycle of a typical business. Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Haryana have scored first, second and third spots, respectively, in annual ease of doing business rankings for states and Union territories, released by the World Bank and the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP)

This year, India has moved up 3 places as compared to 60th rank in GII 2017 and emerged as top-ranked economy in Central and South Asia... Judicial Member: A person shall not be qualified for appointment as a Judicial Member unless he: Is or has been a judge of High Court; or Is or has been a District Judge for atleast five years; or Has, for atleast 10 years been practicing as an advocate Judicial Member includes President of the Tribunal.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) was constituted under Section 410 of the Companies Act, 2013 for hearing appeals against the orders of National Company Law Tribunal(s) (NCLT), with effect from 1st June, 2016. NCLAT is also the Appellate Tribunal for hearing appeals against the orders passed by NCLT(s) under Section 61 of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016 (IBC), with effect from 1st December, 2016. NCLAT is also the Appellate Tribunal for hearing appeals against the orders passed by Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India under Section 202 and Section 211 of I BC. NCLAT is also the Appellate Tribunal to hear and dispose of appeals against any direction issued or decision made or order passed by the Competition Commission of India (CCI) as per the amendment brought to Section 410 of the Companies Act, 2013 by Section 172 of the Finance Act, 2017, with effect from 26th May, 2017.
