From the Editor MELISSA MIDDLETON, 2L In the midst of all these wonderful opportunities, SBA BOARD 2007-2008 please do not forget that Club Day is on Thursday. All of the clubs will be out on the Alameda Mall from 12-1 pm and 5-6 pm to recruit new members. This is a great opportunity to get involved at school and network with people that share your interests. Also, Thursday is the last day to enter the race for SBA Class Rep., so make sure to drop by the SBA table at Club Day if you are interested in representing your fellow students. Finally, I hope the quote this week gives each of you comfort as you sit patiently during class lecture. Have a great week and don t forget to smile! Welcome back! Congratulations to the 1L class for completing your first week of law school. I am sure that you are all a little overwhelmed, but keep working hard and you will succeed. There are a few special events on the calendar this week that I would like to mention. First, PI&SJ Law Welcome Day is this Monday at 5 pm in the Bergin Strong Common. It is a great way to learn more about the Center for Social Justice and meet the faculty that pioneer this wonderful program. Secondly, OCI s (On Campus Interviews) begin this week and I wanted to wish all of you good luck. I know that this can be a little unnerving, and I want to reassure all of you that Santa Clara Law Students are known in the community for their excellence and attentiveness in the work force. I know that each of you will do a great job! First Bar Review!! The Vault 81 West Santa Clara Street Downtown San Jose, CA Bring your student ID. Starts at 9:30 pm. REAL ESTATE LAW SOCIETY VISIT US ON CLUB DAY THURSDAY, AUGUST 30th, 2007 ON THE ALAMEDA MALL FROM 12-1 pm or 5-6 pm Website: https://www.scu.edu/law/resources/real_estate.html Join the Environmental Law Society (ELS) and Professor Ken Manaster for our first meeting of the year this Wednesday, August 29. We will be discussing the history and purpose of the ELS, the club's present goals, proposed activities for the semester, and finally, the benefits of joining other law students interested in environmental law (the first major benefit being a feast of TOGO's sandwiches). This is an excellent opportunity to learn about environmental issues tackled by lawyers in the environmental field, as well as the many different ways that lawyers work toward achieving local and universal environmental goals. We hope to see you Wednesday, August 29, in Bannan 110 from noon-1pm. 4
