Furthermore, we investigate any legislation concerning motorcyclist locally, statewide or nationally. Finally, we will engage in charitable activities befitting our organization, and benefiting both the motorcycle community and society at large. There was a: Salute to our American Flag; Moment of silence for all of our fallen Brothers and Sisters; Welcome to all of our brothers and sisters; Officers present were Joe Cataldi (President), Walt Graziano (Vice President), Janet Bahn (Acting Treasurer), Elaine Dzeima (Secretary) and a Trustee (Pat Leslie). The outgoing officers Gerald Bahn (VP), Janet Bahn (Treasurer) were presented plaques, and their replacements were installed.

SECRETARY S REPORT: A motion was made to accept the Secretary s Report as published in the Newsletter and it was approved by the membership. TREASURER S REPORT: The Treasurer s report was reviewed by the Board and approved. It is available for the current Chapter membership to individually review. COMMITTEE REPORTS: BY-LAWS; No new input was received on the proposed/revised By-Laws. EVENTS; Bob Hicks notified everyone about the Legislative Conference on Mar 14 th, 9:30 AM 4:00 PM at the Moose Lodge, Lindenwold, NJ. Admission will be $5.00 for ABATE members, $10.00 for non-members and $20.00 for a new members. A modified lunch menu and $5.00 hoagie platters will be available. SouthWest Chapter s Yard Sale is March 28 th at The Irish Pub from 8 AM 12 PM. May 2 nd is the Trevor James Benefit Run, $30.00 ea at Dazzy-O s, Rt 73, Cedarbrook. The 14 th Annual Blessing of the Bikes in Whiting by Father Paul s is May 3 rd. LEGISLATIVE; Defensive driving course requirement is being considered for addition to the Right of Way Bill introduction. The new bill number is A-2482. Assembly Bill A3292 proposes a new MSG increase in license fees. Right of way bill A681 Senate bill 2482 and B 3292 safety regulations DOT is working on new helmet requirements, and changing the DoT Sticker to an embossed logo. A motorcyclist s rights rally is being planned for Washington, DC. Tom Gordon requested that any articles referring to motorcycle accidents/incidents be forwarded to him. MRF s Annual Conference is being held in Rehoboth Beach, DE, Apr 17-19, Fri-Sun. Gov Corzine stole $800,000.00 for motorcycle rider awareness fund (taxes) from sure charges and taxes last year, and an additional $400,000 so far this year. New York State wants to tow motorcycles when there is no EPA sticker on the bike. This has already passed in Denver CO. The Smith Family is sponsoring a run for the PAC fund, July 26 th. Check the WEB site for contact info! MEDIA RELATIONS; Check next month for new info. MEMBERSHIP REPORT; SouthWest Chapter has 144 members who have identified us as their Home Chapter, 64 are not current and 96 live outside our District. NCOM NEWS; The latest info is on the NCOM WEB site (www.aimncom.com). NEWSLETTER; The January copy of the newsletter was scheduled to be released the day after the meeting. 2

RIDER EDUCATION; Steve Fredericks (Cape May Chapter) is working with the State to incorporate more Riders Education in the NJ DRIVER EDUCATION Programs into driver license requirements. E-BOARD REPORT: There was more discussion about the Legislative Conference at the Moose Hall on March 14 th. STATE BUSINESS: The State still needs articles for the State newsletter. Need volunteers for membership tables, newsletter and other State activities. The State needs legislative help and help signing up supporting clubs. Members of the Mongals, in CA, had their motorcycles and property confiscated. This occurred because their logo was on them. The legal action was taken because they had violated a federal law. OLD BUSINESS: We are waiting for East Coast Biker to provide/apply their ad decal on our trailer. A motion was made to amend last month s motion (2008-0010) for $500.00 (Legislative Conference) to $1,000. The motion was approved. Janet and John James spoke regarding the Billboard and ABATE involvement. A motion was made that SouthWest donate $500.00 to keep the Trevor James billboard up for the month of March, 2009. The motion was approved. A separate motion was made to accept and fund Janet & John s offer to add www.gardenstateabate.org to the billboard. The motion was approved. A motion was made we pay of for Toms Gordon s room at MRF conference. The motion was approved. NEW BUSINESS: SouthWest Chapters Legislative conference is set for Mar 14, Moose Hall, Registration 9:30 AM 10:00 AM, 10:00 AM 4:00 PM. Elections for the State Legislative Officer, State Treasurer and three State Trustees. Our Chapter nominated Tom Gordon State Legislative Officer, Joe Cataldi and Pat Boylan for State Trustees. A motion was made and carried to approve the E-Board s recommendation to pay $500.00 for the billboard for one month, and suggest that the State pay the second month GOOD AND WELFARE: George Williams was awarded a plaque for his past services as a SouthWest Chapter Trustee. Janet James was appointed to the Legislative committee. The Meeting Adjourned at 8:55 PM, with 20 members. The Right of Way bills need to be voted on before 2010. Please contact your State Senator and District Assemblymen to sign on to these bills. Steve Frederick had a meeting with the State regarding May awareness. The motorcycle registration and Title/Certificate rate increase have been addressed by Assemblyman Dougherty. He addressed this radio interview and there are bills in the State House and Senate that have delayed enforcement and will change the approval method. Check the WEB site for contact info! NEW BUSINESS: There are five positions open at the State level. Legislative Trustee (Tom Gordon only nominee), Treasurer (Don Moser only nominee) and three State Trustees (nominees: Pat Boylan, Joe Yodice, John Miller, Jenine Menwig, Colleen Coughdon, Joe Cataldi and possibly Bob Barret).
