Call to Order President Hardy County Schools Regular Board Meeting Hardy County Board of Education Office August 6, 2012 A., called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. B. Loy Kesner opened the meeting with prayer. C. Nancy Hahn led the group in the Pledge of Allegiance. D. Introductions were made around the room. Lance Moran, EHEMS Principal, was introduced to the Board. E. Approval of Agenda On the motion of Loy Kesner, seconded by Nancy Hahn, the Board approved the agenda. II. Consent Items A. Check Register B. Invoices to be Approved On the motion of Loy Kesner, seconded by Nancy Hahn, the Board approved consent items.

Page 2 III. Unfinished Business A. EHHS/MHS Building Projects Superintendent Whitecotton provided the Board with survey information of MHS. The survey of the property indicates that land believed to be property of Hardy County Schools does not belong to the Hardy County school system. The Board discussed the proposed plans and directed Superintendent Whitecotton to work with the architects to develop alternate plans. On the motion of Loy Kesner, seconded by Rodney Barr, the Board went into Executive Session at 6:38 p.m. Policy BDE, Item 2, Authorization A. The Board reconvened into regular session at 7:10 p.m. On the motion of Loy Kesner, seconded by Nancy Hahn, the Board approved to open negotiations with Howard Shockey and Sons as Construction Manager for the MHS and EHHS facilities project in accordance with WV Code 5G-3-1. IV. New Business A. CRE Monitoring Report The Board was presented with information regarding the Child Nutrition Program for Hardy County Schools. B. Universal Pre-K Contracts and Budgets for EACHS Head Start and Hardy County Child Care Center On the motion of Nancy Hahn, seconded by Rodney Barr, the Board approved the Universal Pre-K Contracts and Budgets for EACHS Head Start and Hardy County Child Care Center as presented. C. In County/Out of County Transfers On the motion of Loy Kesner, seconded by Rodney Barr, the Board approved the following In County/Out of County Transfers as presented. J. Mission Statements/Accomplishments Nancy Hahn congratulated Hardy County students on their Tri-County Fair Projects. Rodney Barr commended and thanked Kathy Hardy for her service as Associate Superintendent to Hardy County Schools. Loy Kesner thanked Greg Greenwalt, Robert Paskel, and Jerry Yates for their help with the building projects. Dixie Bean commended Nancy Sisk, Sherry Barb, and all the cooks for their excellent Nutrition Report.

Page 4 Barbara Whitecotton commended Mary Catherine Slack on her selection as Middle School ACTE Teacher of the Year for Family and Consumer Science. Ms. Whitecotton also commended Kristal Roberson on her selection in the Business and Technical Educational Division. Margaret Shriver commended Maria Mullin, FCCLA National STAR Events, Senior Level- Gold, Chapter Service Project Teen Pregnancy Prevention Strategies. Mallory Sisler, FCCLA National STAR Events, Junior Level-Gold, Illustrated Talk Reducing Waste through Refuse Space Reduction. Ethan Slack, Donovan Wratchford, FCCLA National Star Events, Junior Level-Bronze, Advocacy-Addressing Issues related to Students Destructive Decisions. Also, working on this project were Tim Luttrell and Hunter Miller. Kathy Hardy commended Becky Brill, Dennis Brill, Carol Miller, and Margaret Newton for their years of service to Hardy County. Mrs. Hardy also congratulated Heather Washington for earning her PHD. Jean Flanagan commended Rita Walker for working with the Moorefield Examiner on the Back-to-School supplement. X.
