Motion 11/315: Mr. Kirkpatrick moved to approve the minutes. Mr. Dawson seconded the Public Participation: The superintendent provided a brief statement regarding the matter of a special education student being verbally abused by a teacher and aide at the Miami Trace Middle School. The board president asked if there were any individuals who wished to address the board. The following individuals expressed opinions in support of Teacher Christie Wilt: Geoff Mavis, Mike Reeves, Mike Brown, Barb Jones and Maggie Overstake. The following individuals expressed that the teacher should be dismissed: Josh Brown, Cynthia Wilson, Katina Cartee, Karletta Beatty, Karrie Looney and George Spears. Ms. Teri Bolander asked the board of education questions regarding the time it took to investigate the matter, the use of the treadmill and why parents were not given information on this matter on the call-out system. The board president advised that the superintendent will answer these questions in a letter to her. Resignation: The superintendent recommended that the board accept the resignation of Urana Neff, Handicap Aide, effective November 28, 2011. Motion 11/316: Mr. Dawson moved to accept the resignation. Mr. Henry seconded the Unpaid Leave of Absence: The superintendent recommended that the board approve the request of Christie Wilt for an unpaid Child Care Leave of Absence, per Article 10.02 of the MTEA negotiated agreement, for the remainder of the 2011-2012 school year effective November 14, 2011. Motion 11/317: Mrs. Gentry moved to approve the unpaid leave of absence. Mr. Dawson seconded the Roll Call: Mr. Henry, yes; Mr. Kirkpatrick, yes; Mr. McCarty, yes; Mr. Dawson, yes; Mrs. Gentry, Employment: The superintendent recommended that the following individuals be employed as indicated: A. Supplementals: (2011-2012 School Year) 1. Jay Garey - Flag Corps Advisor 2. Erik Marting - Reserve Boys Basketball Coach Motion 11/318: Mr. Henry moved to employ the individuals. Mr. Kirkpatrick seconded the Roll Call: Mr. Kirkpatrick, yes; Mr. McCarty, yes; Mr. Dawson, yes; Mrs. Gentry, yes; Mr. Henry, Volunteers: The superintendent recommended that the following individuals be approved as volunteers for the 2011-2012 school year: A. 3. Amy Stuckey Motion 11/319: Mr. Kirkpatrick moved to approve the volunteers. Mr. Dawson seconded the Roll Call: Mr. McCarty, yes; Mr. Dawson, yes; Mrs. Gentry, yes; Mr. Henry, yes; Mr. Kirkpatrick, Chaperone: The superintendent recommended that Amy Mick be approved as a chaperone for the FCCLA field trip to the National Cluster Meeting in Atlanta, Georgia that was held November 17-20, 2011. (All required paperwork was completed on November 7, 2011.) Motion 11/320: Mrs. Gentry moved to approve the chaperone. Mr. Henry seconded the Gymnastics Camp Fund: The treasurer requested that the board consider the addition of a gymnastics camp fund. Motion 11/321: Mr. Kirkpatrick moved to approve the establishment of a gymnastics camp fund. Mr. Dawson seconded the Resolution: (See Exhibits A & B.) The board discussed placing a levy on the March 2012 ballot. The two levies discussed were a renewal of the 5-year, $2.4 million emergency operating levy or a substitute levy which would be equal to the $2.4 million emergency operating levy in the first year and would only increase revenue to the school district whenever there is new construction. Motion 11/322: Mr. Kirkpatrick moved to approve a resolution of necessity for a renewal of the 5- year, $2.4 million emergency operating levy. Mr. Henry seconded the Roll Call: Mr. Henry, yes; Mr. Kirkpatrick, yes; Mr. McCarty, yes; Mr. Dawson, yes; Mrs. Gentry, Resolution: (See Exhibit C.) The board discussed the approval of a resolution declaring an urgent necessity and authorizing entering into a direct contract for supplemental/repair masonry work with Allman Bros. Masonry, incorporated at the elementary school for the through-wall flashing repairs. Motion 11/323: Mr. Kirkpatrick moved to approve the resolution of urgent necessity. Mr. Dawson seconded the Roll Call: Mr. Kirkpatrick, yes; Mr. McCarty, yes; Mr. Dawson, yes; Mrs. Gentry, yes; Mr. Henry, Farm Bureau Membership Renewal: The superintendent recommended that the board renew its membership to the Fayette County Farm Bureau from January 1, 2012 through December 31, 2012 at a cost of $60.00. Motion 11/324: Mr. Dawson moved to approve the membership. Mr. Henry seconded the Roll Call: Mr. McCarty, yes; Mr. Dawson, yes; Mrs. Gentry, yes; Mr. Henry, yes; Mr. Kirkpatrick, Use of Facilities: The superintendent recommended that the request by Dee Dee Schlichter and Michelle Teis to use the Miami Trace Middle School cafeteria on Saturday, December 3, 2011 from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. for a scrapbooking fundraiser to benefit the Miami Trace Boys Basketball program be approved. 4
