It is especially the policy dialogue day and the Launching of the Regional Suppot Pogam to Pastoalism. in the Sahel (PRAPS-NIGER). The fist event was oganized as pat of the MESA ECOWAS Land Thema activities. It was an oppotunity fo the pesentation of eath obsevation poducts made available on the MESA stations and also to eceive the feedback fom decision-makes in ode to impove them. That meeting has also pemitted to sensitize national decision-makes in ode to suppot MESA and use these poducts fo decision-making in thei espective counties. The othe majo event which is the launching of the Regional Suppot Pogam to pastoalism in the Sahel (PRAPS-NIGER) is vey impotant fo livestock secto which is a key activity in Nige. This pogam implemented by CILSS is a eal oppotunity fo pastos and hedes of Nige. A section of this bulletin is also dedicated to the gaduating ceemony of the 2015-2016 Maste goup in Food and Nutition Secuity, Sustainable Cop potection and Envionment and Maste in Climate Change and Sustainable Development. Totaling 1342 agents that ae tained by AGRHYMET Regional Cente since it is ceated. This esult is of couse a satisfaction fo CILSS and its patnes whose majo concen is to have competent manages in the CILSS membe counties. Howeve, this bulletin pesents the seasonal climate foecasts of Gulf of Guinea Counties between Mach and June 2016, chaacteized by aveage to below aveage cumulative ainfall. Djimé Adoum, CILSS Executive Secetay, D Samuel MEDU, epesentative of the ECOWAS commission, the technical adviso of the Ministe of state Ministe of Agicultue and Ms. Beatice Bussi, epesentative of the Euopean Union delegation in Nige. Pof. BOUAFOU Kouamé Guy Macel, Diecto Geneal of AGRHYMET Regional Cente (ARC), Ms. Rabi Oumaou and M. Seydou Diakité, espectively Pemanent Secetay of CILSS in Nige and Mali, the MESA Land Thema focal points, expets fom CILSS and many guesses wee as well pesent. He highlighted also the impotance of that day which main objective is to pemit national decision-makes to be awae of eath obsevation poducts and data fom MESA stations and also take into account thei opinion and ecommendations in ode to impove the poducts and sevices made available to them. Djimé ADOUM, CILSS executive secetay, the epesentative of the Wold Bank, the epesentative of Millennium Challenge Copoation and the Geneal Secetay of the Govenoate of Niamey Pof. BOUAFOU Kouamé Guy Macel, Diecto Geneal of AGRHYMET Regional Cente, D. Maty Ba Diao, Regional Coodinato of PRAPS, ambassados and head of diplomatic missions, epesentatives of egional and intenational oganizations, epesentatives of pastoal oganizations and many guests wee pesent at the ceemony. In his opening addess, the Ministe of livestock has fist of all, thanked those who have contibuted in making PRAPS-NIGER a eality fo sustainable development and endogen fo pastos and ago-pastos of Nige. Validation of ECOAGRIS indicatos As pat of the setting up of the ECOWAS Agicultue Regional Infomation System (ECOAGRIS), AGRHYMET Regional Cente has oganized fom 08 to 10 Febuay 2016 in Ouagadougou, Bukina Faso a egional validation wokshop of the ECOAGRIS indicatos. The CILSS High management, the ECOAGRIS technical team, ECOAGRIS focal points of the 15 ECOWAS membe counties, Mauitania and Chad and epesentatives of patne institutions: AFRICARICE, ReSAKSS (IFPRI), CORAF, CILSS/AGRHYMET, FAO, ROPPA, UE, ARAA, APESS, OXFAM wee pesent at the wokshop. Taining on the standads and diections to suppot Livestock in Emegency Situation (LEGS) The fomal opening ceemony was chaied by D. DJIME Adoum, CILSS executive Secetay in pesence of P. BOUAFOU Kouamé Guy Macel, Diecto Geneal of AGRHYMET Regional Cente. The main objective The main objective of the wokshop is to examine and validate a egional set of indicatos fo the monitoing of Food and Nutition Secuity in West Afica as pat of the opeationalization of the ECOAGRIS system At this meeting, one hunded and eighty-six (186) indicatos wee selected as elevant indicatos and ae available at county level. Those indicatos wee confimed to be the egional indicatos of the ECOAGRIS platfom. Indicatos that wee selected take into account 30 ove the 60 monitoing indicatos of the ECOWAS agicultual policy selected by the RESAKSS in ode to povide all necessay infomation fo the monitoing of the ECOWAS egional agicultual policy. 26 paticipants composed of manages fom the six (6) PRAPS counties (the specialist of component 4 of National PRAPS and a esouce peson of the ealy waning system), epesentatives of fames oganizations and the Civilian society and CILSS expets, have taken pat fom 18 to 20 Januay 2016 to the taining on standads and diections to suppot livestock in emegency situation (LEGS), held at AGRHYMET Regional Cente. This meeting is pat of the activities of the Component Pevention and Management of Cises of the Regional Suppot Poject to Pastoalism in the Sahel (PRAPS). The fomal opening ceemony of this wokshop was chaied by P. Sanoussi ATTA, head of the Taining and Reseach Depatment, epesenting Pof. BOUAFOU Kouamé Guy Macel, Diecto Geneal of ARC in pesence of M. Paul Sylveste and M. Daouda Coulibaly, PRAPS expets The objective of that taining was to stengthen the capacities of the focal points of the component Pevention and management of cises in ode to contibute in safeguading lives and livelihoods within hede s communities who ae victim of a disaste. Restitution of the study on catogaphy of infastuctues and pastoal equipment Taining on the analysis of climate data fo the poduction of infomation on food secuity Fom 11 to 13 Januay 2016, was held at AGRHYMET Regional Cente (ARC), the estitution wokshop on the catogaphy of pastoal equipment and infastuctues. This meeting which is pat of the activities of the Regional Suppot Poject to Pastoalism in the Sahel (PRAPS) has gatheed 24 paticipants composed of the manages fom the six (6) PRAPS counties (esponsible of component 2 on management of natual esouces and an expet who is specialist in data base management and Geogaphic infomation system), epesentatives of fames oganizations and the civilian society and CILSS expets. The objectives of the wokshop wee: Restitute the content of the spatial data base fo livestock infastuctues and equipment and catogaphic esults achieved in each of the counties, Pesent and shae the egional biophysics and socioeconomic data base that ae available at ARC Tain the county teams on the use and update of the BDS fo the chaacteization and monitoing of the aeas of intevention of PRAPS Agee on data and mete data to collect fo the chaacteization of the intevention aeas and the localization of the PRAPS infastuctues Then, the epesentative of the ARC Diecto Geneal has invited paticipants to get involved actively in the animation of tis wokshop whose esults will contibute in educing povety and the economic boom in the pastoal aeas.
