Highway Superintendent Van Saders submits for the Town Boards review and consideration; the specs for a new 2017 Freightliner 108SD truck chassis. There are some modifications to be made due to the addition of a wing post thereby requiring a heavier axle. Estimated cost with stainless body, wing post, heavier axle, plow, sander and other options is $211,443 total. Screening cost is $2,500.00. Supervisor David Brooks inquires as to the necessity of a stainless steel body if it is worth the $5,000.00 and he asks how long the the steel bodies last. Further, he says the cost for modifications is $100,000. Highway Superintendent Van Saders responds it has been 10 years and is just starting to have spots that need patches. Highway Superintendent Van Saders further remarks that since the wing plow is being replaced he feels a wing plow should be purchased. He comments he doesn t feel the Town should be down to 1 wing plow. Councilman Gregory Vurckio states he agrees with Highway Superintendent Van Saders; the wing should be replaced. Highway Superintendent Van Saders remarks the wing post would be installed on the bid price. Supervisor Brooks remarks with the grant from Senator Bonacic and sale of the truck, along with a more thorough review of the body to decrease over all cost, Supervisor Brooks states he believes it would be foolish not
